This just in: Christian Bale has left a London police station after being questioned about claims from his mother and sister that he assaulted them.
The Dark Knight star is alleged to have “lashed out” at his mother and sister in his suite at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday. He was released on bail until September after being held for four hours. He was scheduled to meet radio journalists at the Dorchester to promote the film this afternoon, but he understandably bailed.

UPDATE: Christian Bale’s peeps have just released a public statement regarding his recent arrest.
“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”

i think it seems a little oddly timed…his mom and sister probably demanded money or something from him to not go to the police and ruin all his good publicity for the dark knight.

been so much hype about character…Every where they went all they talked about
was Heath.. and now to make more hype for this movie this happens.. With
Christian..It would be more fun to have Heath not be nominated.. Because it would
be the first time a villian from a comic book movie would be nominated..Why not
have Robert Downey Jr. be nominated too as Best Actor…It must be annoying
going to a premiere only to see Heath Ledger signs and being asked a thousand
times about Heath.. If Heath only thought of his daughter when he was making
this movie why didn’t he think about her before he died.
TMZ is reporting that in the UK you can be arrested for verbal assault, and that’s what this probably was. How frikin lame if you yell at your family and actually get turned in for it.

His mother and sister are drug addicts and liars. He never beat them up. Unless you know, shut the fuck up.
I heard about that too, She. I believe it was probably a verbal altercation. Lets not jump to conclusions about beatings… damn. And I don’t think this is some kind of PR stunt ala what Laurie Smith is suggesting. I doubt someone would want to “steal the spotlight” by being accused of assault…

In our courts, assault is verbal abuse or threats, battery is physical abuse. Not sure about the UK.
He didn’t beat up his mother and sister. According to reports Bale’s mother and sister were intoxicated and assaulted him. There were no charges levied…Sometime family can be a royal pain in the ass.
