As Dick Morris further points out, and as you probably remember, Nancy Pelosi stood before the American public, and promised that Congress was going to ‘get down to business’ by requiring an actual 5 day a week work schedule- did that ever materialize? Nope-! Not even close.

The very first week of the Democrats congressional majority, Steny Hoyer, A Democrat from MD, declared that congress was going to take a week off- not for any particular reason mind you, such as an emergency, a hurricane, food poisoning or the like, oh no, it was much more serious than that. You see, it was the week of the championship college football game between Oklahoma State and Florida State.

Even when Congress is in session, they do practically nothing anyways. During the whole month of February- guess how many days congress actually worked? 9 Days folks! “and on three of those days, the sessions lasted less than 20 minutes, while a fourth lasted for 39 minutes.” And they are being paid at least $165,000 per year for this kind of nonsense?!

During the “President’s Day District Work Period”, (a lame excuse for a taxpayer funded vacation), 14 members of the House spent 5 days in a luxurious hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and at Aspen at an average cost of $7000 per member.

And are congressional members themselves the only ones we the taxpayers pay to whoop it up in luxury hotels and condo suits all over the globe? Oh heck no- we also pay for their children to accompany their parents when they take long extended paid holidays to do nothing, who it must be pointed out, are not members of congress. Nancy Pelosi has proposed that adult children be allowed to go along with their parents on these taxpayer funded trips. Our money, hard at work, ensuring that congressional members and their children get to live it up on our dime- all while accomplishing absolutely nothing of any substantial significance for this country during these taxpayer-funded all you can eat buffets.

When Barack Supporters are asked to justify Obama’s dismal voting record, the only defense they can give is that “Well Senator Dodd misses more”. While Spanish is the most widely spoken language next to English there are still a large number of other languages being spoken in the U.S. and I don’t hear any of you ranting about that. What’s the problem with Spanish? Furthermore, learning another language is a difficult and commendable thing to do. Perhaps you should try it. We are a country of immigrants Let’s not forget that.

The President’s Lawmaking Role

The President plays a large role in making America’s laws. His job is to approve the laws that Congress creates. When both chambers have approved a bill, they send it to the President. If he agrees with the law, he signs it and the law goes into effect.

If the President does not like a bill, he can veto it. There are two ways that he can veto a bill. First, the President can send the bill back to Congress unsigned. In most cases, he will also send a list of reasons he does not like the bill. Second, the President can “pocket” the bill. This cover is right-on with my concerns as to where our country is going. I am concerned that the energy situation and economy is pushing our country into a huge mistake. I am not a McCain supporter, but I am afraid of the Obama’s. I am a small business owner who struggles to make payrolls and provide benefits for employees. I have a sizable mortgage and am trying to put my children through college. I will be voting for McCain.

Mr. Obama should develop a thicker skin and just get used to it. After all, he proports to be a “Constitutional” lawyer. Does he not understand the First Amendment?

I find this to be incredibly offensive. I may not be as knowledgable in politics as some of you, but I do know that it is wrong and completely disrespectful. To call ANYONE a terrorist and label them Anti-American is really awful in my opinion, especially after what we as Americans have experienced with 9/11. I think the George Bush bashing needs to stop as well. Everyone has the right to an opinion, but I feel that it’s important to respect those who are in a higher position than you, whether you like them or not. It certainly would not be an easy job being president of this country, and you could never please everyone. I’d like to see how some of you guys would handle it.

hairball, i’ve really appreciated a lot of your thoughts today…but let’s be real. hamas (castro, ortega, qadaffi, farc, chavez and many others) have endorsed obama. islam is passed thru the father whether or not obama mysteriously and unexplainedly gave it up and became a radical anti white anti european marxist christian or not…and besides that, he can govern in a way that terrorists prefer regardless if he is or isn’t…which to be clear, he ISN’T. The up coming campaign is not about black or white, or religions, or terrorists, or democrat and republican. It’s also not a matter of who is going to fix the problems created by the men who have failed to be true leaders of this country in the past.

It’s about damn time that the people in this country get involved with their government, and make their voices and needs heard. That’s what Obama is about. Ignorant slander isn’t going to hurt anyone but yourself, by furthering the negative attitude surrounding the 2008 election. Everyone is too busy taking a side, that no one is truly listening to what the candidates are saying.

It’s not about who wins, or who is better… It’s about us, as Americans being able to unite and make a decision as to who will be the next leader of this country. Other Nations laugh at the ignorance of our people and the ignorance of Americans in regard to our very own political system. We should start shutting our mouths and listening to others opinions.
