VOGUE MAGAZINE (SORTA, KINDA) TRIES TO BE FAIR

The fashion world is buzzing today over the soon-to-be-released Vogue Italia All Black Issue.

For those of you who simply cannot wait, CLICK HERE to check out supermodel Naomi Campbell’s photo shoot with Steven Meisel.

The shots are as topless as they are beautiful!!

Meanwhile, call us cynics, but we think that the black edition in Vogue Italia smacks of tokenism. Wouldn’t it have more impact to put black models in every edition of Vogue for the next 20 years?

Besides, everyone knows that July is a snoozer month for fashion mags. It’s between season and everyone’s on holiday. We suggest that Vogue find a black model and give her a career by exposing her month after month, not by making this splash.

She is an amazingly beautiful women and she is the real super model. Where are the rest of them these days?

…Or they could stop trying to be ‘fair’ and put models that deserve the fame into their spreads, regardless of their race.
An all black issue? Why? What is that proving, that black people can be pretty too? Don’t we already know that?

Naomi may have the physical looks, but the personality she lets allows the public to see through her trashy public altercations makes her absolutely hideous.

    here’s a novel idea!
just mix in all types of people all the time based on THEIR TALENTS!

^Looks, you mean. Based on their looks ;o). Beauty != talent. Otherwise, right on.

I think by having an all black issue you are being racist!

I hate her as a person, but she is an incredible model….always have been. Young models can’t touch her, IMO.

Vogue Italia always has black models / actors / musicians featured in the magazine.
Vogue USA is where the problem is!

I think that an all black issue is a good thing as long as it doesn’t occur regularly! I think that it’s about time that more black models and other ethinicities are used! Speaking as a 22 year old black female it would be nice to see more faces that look like mine on the cover and inside of magazine. But as another poster said it won’t really matter until American Vogue does something similar!

She’s a bitch but a great looking bitch. She looks like a goddess and I would prefer her 38 year-old ass over any young model’s body any day. Today’s models like Chanel Iman and Giselle have stick legs instead of curvy legs. Naomi has always looked athletic and gorgeous; slender but not stick thin.

She’s so tired and worn down and, seriously, what the hell has she done besides model and beat the shit out of people with her cell phone? At least other black models (like Tyra, Iman, Beverly Johnson, etc.) have built extremely successful businesses outside of modeling (and in Tyra’s case a goddamned empire with ANTM and her talk show). They should’ve chosen someone else.

I think this is a very condescending, unfair idea. If they do an all black issue, they should do an all white issue, an all hispanic issue….just put everyone in together! They have had plenty of black models go through Vogue, and they should be put in the magazine because of their talents and not because the magazine feels like they have to put someone in to be ‘fair’. That’s more rascist in my opinion. Meanwhile, Naomi looks absolutely amazing in these shots! She has a bad personality, but she definately knows how to take a good photo!
