Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s sense of charity is infinite: The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict announced today that the supercouple has donated $1 million to aid children affected by the war in Iraq.
Brangelina’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation will distribute the donation to four organizations working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq.
The four groups include the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides military children with counseling and educational support; Women for Women International, which will provide books, school supplies and other basic necessities to Iraqi women and children; the International Rescue Committee, which will repair three schools and offer classes for more than 2500 students; and NineMillion.org, which will give school uniforms and learning materials to more than 2000 displaced Iraqi kids.
And, yes, children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.

These people actually give serious money and time to real organizations, not PR fundraisers where they deduct a grand a person for dinner & entertainment and give the kids a dollar a year later. Even the right-wing goobs on talk radio know this — they’re always going on about how social services should be supported through charity and not coercive taxation.
Yea, it’s not like the skanks gain anything by announcing donations and whoring out their kids. Oh, wait. That’s right, they get publicity! They exploit the suffering and misery of others and use refugees and orphans for photo ops. People who have altruistic motives do not need cameras and press conferences to mark the occasion.
It’s great that they donate time & money, and I’m not trying to take anything away from that, but - having volunteered at a few charities, I can say that it’s a lot more emotional to get a check for $20 from an elderly woman on a fixed income who’s scrounged and saved for a month to donate that much, along with an apology that she couldn’t do more. That $1 million can do a lot more than that woman’s $20, but it’s nowhere near as emotionally charged.
Sam guess you can’t read judging by your irrational rant. The groups receiving the donations made the announcements, not Brad and Angelina. There were no press conferences or cameras, there were press releases by the grateful groups. All intelligent people (not you of course) know that donations are announced by groups to gather attention and funding from other potential donors. This is the way it is done, SOP. Their wonderful totally altruistic act benefits both US military kids who have lost a parent or have a parent in Iraq who have a lot of pain in their lives in the amount of $500,000, and $500,000 for educational efforts for kids and women in Iraq. Your blind bitterness toward these two is unbelievable, the name calling says it all. To not be able to see the goodness of these two, to harbor such negative feelings about two people you do not even know, says what a vile person you are. They do good because it is the right thing to do, something you are incapable of understanding.

I don’t understand how anybody can be negative about two people doing such a wonderful thing for children in need. $1 million is a lot to hand over for just a little bit of good publicity. These two are genuine in my eyes and they deserve all the good publicity they get for things like this.

they made a lot of money because they are talented and work extremely hard, and they VOLUNTARILY give charity out of the goodness of their hearts.
ironically, humorously, and obviously, there aren’t many that can afford to do this under a marxist or socialist system…so we should keep it how we have it here where individuals perform good acts because they have been raised to be good people and NOT because of gov’t LEGISLATION which almost always BACKFIRES.

It does make sense for the charity to share the news of the donation by Jolie and Pitt. The news brings awareness and lends credibility to their efforts.

It is unbelievable how completely ridiculous some of these comments are.
1) I could see if they were just throwing money at a charity like a lot of hollywood does, but they are not. They are going the these places, meeting the people they are trying to help, learning about the cause they are funding, not just wearing a t-shirt “Save Dafur”…
2) To say that just because they have millions, a million dollars donated is not enough is SO STUPID! This is not the only charity to which they have donated their time AND money. Without the money they have, they would not be able to do these things. Yes, it’s lovely when someone gives all they can b/c they don’t have much.. truly touching… but I want you to find me the kid who will turn their nose up at a million dollar donation because “they have more than that to give”. That is Asinine!
3) AND FINALLY - to say they are media whores is absurd — if it weren’t for their fame, they wouldn’t have the money and means to do the GOOD work they do. Also, it is as much to the charity’s benefit as anyone elses to have “star power” associated with their cause b/c it brings awareness to those who may not otherwise read CNN or FOX news sites and instead read FYB or Perez or whatever.. and there are A LOT! — too, there are certainly many wealthy people who donate money and time without the media attention.. that’s because most of them, if their name was mentioned, the average person would have no idea who they are and it’s not NEWS! so if you wanna blame anyone for the “media whoring” these two do, start with yourself, b/c I would be willing to bet money you wouldn’t have known shit about this charity otherwise!!!

Sam leads a sad, bitter life. That’s obvious. Whoring out their kids? ha ha…that’s laughable. This couple would do anything to be able to go out in public without being hounded by the paps. They’re now holed up in that estate in France and there are still paps hovering at the gates with motorbikes ready to take chase if the family leaves by car. Angelina also gives a third of her income to charity along with all their other donations. Who else in Hollywood is as giving as these two…nobody.
She Rides A Harley….in Canada, whenever you donate anything over $10.00 you get a receipt for tax purposes. It is just assumed by one and all that if you donate big bucks towards any charitable cause, you will want to benefit from it somewhere else down the line. To me it is better to donate large cash to a worthy cause and get a tax break, than to give that money to a popular hang out for celebs for one or two meals and a string of paparazzi filming your every bite.
