George Michael says he’s going to step out of the spotlight, stop touring and try to live a “quieter life.”
Why, you ask? George, who is staging two major concerts at Earls Court, London in August, labeled ‘The Final Two’, says “mainly the reason is because I’m 45 and I think pop music should be about youth culture,” he tells the BBC. “It shouldn’t be an endurance test.”
No word on Madonna’s take on George’s pop music age limit.

Well said George !!!!!
Right on George!!!
Stop touring? What the fuck? He only started touring again last year, afterr not touring for over 15 years. Does he really think anyone cares?
george is amazing live!!! I have seen him 4 times and he is awesome!!!
I love George!! So talented. One of my all time fav albums is Listen Without Prejudice. And yes…he is amazing live.
he’s only 45? for some reason, i thought he was older… not that he looks it.
why stop touring? if any artist can do it well, then i say do it. there shouldn’t be a time stamp on when to stop doing something. everybody’s different.
He was only 18 when he formed WHAM! so I suppose that’s why he seems older–he’s been on the music scene for so long.
I absolutely cannot wait to see him in concert in July!
He shouldn’t give up singing and touring! He’s a great singer, I love his greatest hits cd. He has such an amazing voice also.
Yes, thank you george now someone send the memo to madge and janet jackson.
I will miss his talent because unlike Madonna he actually can sing and write great music. I love the dig about retiring and fame not being an endurance test. Har!
I don’t necessarily like a lot of his newer music, but I always appreciated him as an artist. He has always been pretty straight forward and honest, no bullshit.
I dont agree with him that you have to quit at a certain age, it all depends on whether you feel you have something new to contribute with, rather than just staying in the limelight to break an age record.
I still enjoy his restroom cruising stories, those were fun.
There was a time that I wanted his sex……………Then I found out, he didnt want mine cuz I’m in “inny” and not an “outy”
Kinda made me cry!
I think his comment about “endurance” holds more water than a lot of his contemporaries would care to admit. I love the man and appreciate his refreshing honesty. Like someone said above, he’s been in the business since he was 18 so it’s not surprising that at this point he wants a change of career (unlike Madonna who didn’t get into the business until later). I can’t wait to see him in concert on June 17 in San Diego and again in Chicago in July. I saw him live in Paris in 2006 and it was amazing.
Sorry, no way is that guy 45.
Oh, okay Ren. Since you don’t believe he is 45, then I guess he mustn’t be. (Rolls eyes)
George has stated in a number of interviews that he has no intention of giving up music–writing, recording, or distributing songs (via internet download only). He claims he is finished, however, with record companies and traditional distribution channels, and touring.
Please someone free us from the vadge prancing around stage in panties.
