Barack Obama has officially clinched the Democratic presidential nomination.
The freshman Illinois senator now faces Republican Sen. John McCain in the race to become the 44th U.S. president.
In a statement prepared for delivery at a rally in St. Paul today, Barack said: “Tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another — a journey that will bring a new and better day to America. Tonight I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton praised her rival warmly in an appearance before supporters in New York.
While she failed to offer a concession of any sort, she said she would spend the next few days determining “how to move forward with the best interests of our country and our party guiding my way.”
Congratulations, Senator Obama!!!

Great news!! Obama really does have his head screwed on straight and I’m definately a supporter. I think McCain has some great points as well but some of his ideals are a little dated for a country that wants to move foward. I don’t classify myself as either a Democrat or Republican, I just vote for the person who justifies their arguments well and answers every question that’s thrown at them as honestly as possible. I beleive Obama has done that, and he’s got a bit of a sense of humor as well which is good.
