From playing alongside zebras in South Africa to walking the red carpet with the biggest names in the biz, Charlize Theron has transformed herself into one major Hollywood powerhouse. Now the big screen beauty shares her thoughts on everything from love, marriage to America’s phobia with nudity in the July issue of Glamour magazine.

Charlize on America’s fear of topless beaches: “It bothers me that in this society, it’s OK seeing a guy blow another’s head off, but a child seeing Janet Jackson’s boob at the Super Bowl is the worst thing that could happen. It’s not the end of the world! It’s just a breast!”

Charlize on what keeps her 7-year relationship with Stuart Townsend going: “He’s got beautiful feet and hands. [Laughs.] Here’s the thing: The Beatles had it wrong about love. They did! I think if you are in a one- or two-year relationship, love is enough. You can thrive on that. [But] when you hit years three and four, you realize that if you’re going to live with somebody and not just live near somebody…you have to be nurtured emotionally and spiritually, and you have to be intrigued. Because if that intrigue runs out, you’re not going to want to go home anymore.”

Charlize on why she and Stuart have not walked down the isle: “I want to be clear: I am not judgmental about [the institution of] marriage. I am judgmental about how our government doesn’t want to see the reality of gay and lesbian marriages. [But] I have always known [that marriage is] not something for me. Even when I was a little girl I never dreamed of the white dress and all of that.”

Charlize on how she manages to stay out of the tabloids: “Stuart and I are private because in this business, it’s hard to hold onto something sacred. In this town, you know where not to go if you don’t want [attention]. ”

Charlize on who she is voting for in the presidential election: “I’m voting for Barack Obama. He’s inspiring. Stu and I were watching a documentary the other day about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and there was something about looking into his eyes that reminded me of looking into [Nelson] Mandela’s. And that also reminded me of looking into Obama’s eyes. There is something [in Obama] that transcends.”

  1. Recession Proof State Says:

I have to agree with her on her comment about MAMORY GLANDS

  2. V Says:

How is she voting? When did she become a US citizen? Isn’t she from South Africa?

  3. sunshine Says:

The comparison of Obama to Dr. King shows her absoulte stupidity and the brainwashing that has gone on with this clown. Dr. King would NEVER support partial birth abortion and oppose the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. If anyone is unfamiliar with either of these issues please look them up. Dr. King was a brilliant man who respected life and promoted values.

  4. Vista_underground Says:

@ sunshine: If Dr King were alive now, his values might be different from the ones that were relevant back in his days, wouldn’t you agree?

  5. sunshine Says:

Vista- Why would his values be different, because society has deemed the murder of innocent babies acceptable? Go watch a video on partial birth abortion and educate yourself on the Born Alive Act and then ask yourself if Dr. King’s position would be the same as Obama’s. You give the man no credit!

  6. adam Says:

obama has surrounded himself (on purpose)with malcolm x types NOT mlk jr types. it’s an absolute disgrace to besmirch mlk jr by mentioning the radical invention of a man, in the same realm.

  7. Vista_underground Says:

@ sunshine: No offense, but note how i wrote ‘might’ as opposed to pretending i would a) personally know the man himself and b) be certain of a hypothesis. Also, a political choice does not automatically prove ‘absolute stupidity’, but i fear that remarks like these might very well.

That is not to say i don’t agree with you to some point, only to maybe not judge so quickly.

  8. sunshine Says:

Vista: The only absolute stupidity is Charlize Theron’s absurd comments comparing Obama and Dr. King. As for your last comment about not to judge so quickly, are you referring to my judgement of Ms. Theron’s comments or Obama’s support of a procedure that sucks a viable baby out of the womb, stabs it in the head and then sucks out the brains, or his lack of support of a bill that would provide medical attention to those infants that happen to survive this procedure? I’m pretty sure Dr. King wouldn’t go for that, but you’re right, it’s just a hypothesis.

  9. Anonymous Says:

marxist black liberation theology was the basis for obama’s church, that screams volumes about the man…………he will be exposes soon enough no matter how much the media covers up his truth.

  10. Stephi Says:

She sounds like a smart woman and she knows where she is in her life which is good. I’m not a huge fan of hers though I’ve gotta say and a couple of the things she is saying I feel like she is just saying because every other celebrity is saying it. She looks beautiful in that picture though on the right.

  11. Leni Says:

i understand how a lot of people are saying thats it pretty absurd to compare MLKJ to Obama, but i dont think she necessarily compared them by their political views. i think it may have had more to do with them both being inspirational African-Americans that are really giving a voice, in a sense both of them representing their people.
