Penelope Cruz was spotted at rehearsals and photo tests for her new movie directed by Pedro Almodovar, Los Abrazos rotos.
It’s the first day on set — and filming takes pace in the Cactus Garden on Lanzarote Island, Canary Islands, Spain.
The film, described as a “four-way tale of amour fou”, is set in the 90s and present day, but with a ’50s noir sensibility.
Penelope and Pedro have worked on many projects together, including the much acclaimed film Volver. The 34-year-old actress seems to be a muse for Mr. Almodovar and we look forward to another work of art from this dynamic duo!

I really don’t understand all the hype around this woman she cannot act either in english or spanish, yet she gets so many roles and so much respect from hollywood, someone pls explain her appeal. Most of her movies are flops unless some big star is carrying the movie for her.

While I’ve found her performances in American movies to be lacking, I’ve enjoyed most of her work in her Spanish language films such as Volver.
There’s something so feminine about her, i wish more actresses that the grace of her and cate blancett, there so regal without trying.

Agreed, liz. I don’t care for the American films she’s made, but I really like her work in Spanish films (Sin Noticias de Dios, Volver, etc.).

Apparently you guys haven’t seen Volver. Her American films lack power but she’s amazing in Spanish film.

I saw the woman, looks like Penelopa’s twin, 2 years ago. It was at the Fuerteventura island, near Lansarote. This woman is a wife of one of the famous businessman from Fuerteventura.
