During an unusually chilly Saturday morning in Los Angeles, Nicole Richie was spotted taking her adorable 5-month-old daughter Harlow Madden for her daily walk.
Unlike many celeb moms, Nicole is a truly hands-on mom and it shows. She is set to receive a Golden Pacifier Award from Babytalk Magazine.
Says editor-in-chief Lisa Moran: “Honouring Nicole Richie with a Babytalk Golden Pacifier Award might come as a surprise to some, but we felt that she deserved some recognition for her turnaround since becoming a mom. She’s grown up a lot since the arrival of little Harlow, and her creation of the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation has demonstrated her efforts to set a good example by shining a spotlight on important issues affecting today’s families.”

they must give these awards out like candy, no requirements, just a little charity does wonders for an image that is famous for nothing.
Does “hands on” mean that she is pushing the stroller instead of the nanny who’s hovering nearby? Or is that fireplug of a gal actually Harlow’s body guard?
Sorry, but “hands-on” moms don’t go out several nights a week, go shopping without their children and have nannies. I think the millions of moms across America who are with their children ALL THE TIME have trouble buying that most celebrities are truly “hands-on” moms. Please! First Dina Lohan gets a parenting award, then J Lo, and now Nicole? THEY are examples of good moms?

this baby wasn’t even wanted, it was an accidental pregnancy, and who knows if she was on drugs while pregnant.

Wowww some of these comments are really harsh and purely based on speculation. She’s not out every night of the week at all! Maybe one night a week, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The Richie-Madden Foundation is fantastic and Nicole is seen with Harlow all the time. I agree that she deserves some recognition for changing her life around, it can’t have been easy for her and I’m sure she doesn’t claim to be a perfect mother just yet.
I believe she’s turned her life around since she had Harlow. We’ll see if she’s able to be consistent over time, but she’s truly made an effort thus far, and for that I believe she’s deserving of the honor.
