MADGE BRINGS AWARENESS

Madonna and her director hubby Guy Richie cause a firestorm of flashbulbs as the happy couple arrives at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS 2008 benefit during the 61st International Cannes Film Festival in France on Thursday.

The Material One was on hand to present a clip of I Am Because We Are, her documentary about AIDS in Malawi.

The film features interviews with Bill Clinton among others and shows a stark picture of desperate poverty and children orphaned by AIDS.

It also highlights how education can help the situation.

Says Madge: “To say that this film is a labour of love is true, but that’s kind of trivial because really what it is, is a journey of a lifetime.”

Not that she was ever an example of good style, what the heck has been up with her matronly get-ups lately?

That’s quite the prim little-old-lady goin’-ta-meetin’ dress she’s got on–does she think that dressing more modestly will give her more credibility with the do-gooders??

I have always loved this woman - - she puts on the best concert I have seen in a long time. She puts in 150% for sure.

I hope I look just half as good as her at 50.

    Big Brother:
I commend anyone who helps- my point was:
in the USA we have our own poor, hungry and sick - why can’t they help heir own countrymen? or atleast pretend they care. I think until the USA can “fix” our own problems and solve poverty and hunger here, it is a bit hypocritical to help other countries. I beleive we should help our own first then worry about other.
I am tired of helpnig countries who hate us and don’t appreciate us.

the voice, I actually agree with you on let’s help our kids here for once. But a huge reason why lots of countries hate us etc is because of our foreign policy. I do recognize though that we also are among the first to donate and offer assistance in global tragedy which is wonderful.

i m surprised by how you consider and use the US foreign politics ’round here.

so it seems bad for you that some American cares first for some other kids than american poor ones, uh ? for you, one should start doing good in his home before doing it somewhere else, yes ?

ok… that seems a good point of view… i just regret that there are so little americans thinking the same way when it comes to America acting like the fucking police of the world, creating conflicts, wars and poverty around the globe. why not taking care of all the problems inside America before going abroad to kill americans an non-americans in the name of petrol and just to make some rich asses even richer ?

those critics sound even funnier and more hypocrite to me, because maybe there wouldn’t be any poor kid or american grown up in America if only half of the US war budget was used to help americans in need. it makes me laugh ’cause you blame a totally unimportant woman of trying to do for some people what your politics don’t do to “your” people.
