DENNIS QUAID SHARES HIS HEARTBREAK

Dennis Quaid recounted the scary story of his newborn twin’s near-fatal heparin overdose today on Capitol Hill at a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

As you may recall, the actor’s newborn twins were administered 1000 times the normal dose of a blood thinner.

The committee is looking into holding pharmaceutical companies accountable through lawsuits.

Said Quaid: “Like many Americans, I believed that a big problem in our country was frivolous lawsuits. But now I know that the courts are often the only path to justice.”

    FINALLY!

Besides Michael J. Fox, a celebrity that is doing great things for Parkinson’s Disease, Dennis Quaid and his wife are trying to save numerous lives around the world and because they are selfless and not putting themselves on a pedestal, they will succeed.

This makes much more sense than trying to raise awareness in a country that millions of Americans just cannot sink their teeth into

I really like him for what he and his wife went through and how he handled that terrible situation.

Sadly, mistakes in administering drugs are made all across this country, every day. 99% if these errors are made by underpaid, overworked health workers. Whenever humans are involved, there WILL be human error.

So why is it suddenly such a huge deal when it happens to a celebrity? Nothing against the Quaids, but I would have been much more impressed if this who huge, fancy congressional investigation was convened when the same thing happened to two years ago to Luella and Joe-Bob’s baby born in East Bumfuck, Whereeverville.

But I guess it’s just not a big deal when it happens to an ordinary person.

And I don’t think the Quaids are necessarily crusading on the behalf of others. I think they’re taking care of their own business first, and if it just happens to help others, well, fine–but it’s not their primary concern.
