DON’T MESS WITH LOUIS

Louis Vuitton is suing a Danish artist who used one of the company’s famous purses in a drawing to protest Darfur and point out how the media prioritize - choosing to focus on Paris Hilton, for example, rather than the genocide going on in Africa.
“Originally, they wanted $7,500,” said Designers for Darfur founder Malcom Harris, who’s defending Plesner’s project. “After she placed the cease-and-desist letter on her Web site, that went up. Every time she uses their name on her Web site she’s charged an additional $7,500 a day. So at the current rate, she’s being charged $20,000 a day.”

With all these big lawsuits and even bigger attorney fees, it seems the only ones who are not seeing a pretty penny are the ones who deserately need it — the impoverished citizens of Darfur!

Why is china not blamed for giving the arms with which genocide is being committed. Why does the US have to police and feed the whole damn planet.

What’s the point of spending money a stupid shirt, the money will not help the people who need it, it just lands on the hands of the oppressive government. If it were as easy as buying a shirt or sending money the US could have solved the whole world’s problems……idiots.

The money will help the people who need it because it goes to the UN or the Red Cross. No one gives money to the government because they know that they are the ones responsible.

Or some other aid organization that provides food or medical care. You shouldn’t be putting down others when you don’t even know what the hell you’re talking about.

The United Nations is the most corrupt organization ever how naive to trust them, the american red cross is a lot better but many times struggle to get direct access to the needy .

They may be inefficient but they’re not just giving money to the Sudanese government. Since the government wont take action it’s better to give money than to do nothing at all.

I don’t think this was necessary. Just because you buy a Louis Vuitton bag does not mean you don’t care about world issues. It’s just two totally different things and using guilt and making people feel bad by buying themselves a bag is not the way to go about promoting the issues in Darfur. I can see the point they are trying to make, but not everybody is like Paris Hilton. I would be pissed if I were Louis Vuitton.
