AUDREY TATOU AS COCO CHANEL

Check out your first look at French beauty Audrey Tautou playing the role of fashion visionary Coco Chanel.

French director Anne Fontaine is working on the tale about Chanel before she became famous.

So, who was Coco before she revolutionized fashion? A cabaret singer! That’s where she gained the nickname “CoCo” while singing Who’s Seen Coco in the Trocadero. It’s there that she began sewing the stage clothes of cabaret stars and, well….the rest is fashion history.

    Ugly picture… Looks like she’s using a horrible wig…

I love it with its nod to androgyny. It’s so retro, yet modern. I think Audrey is beautiful and the cover shot shows she can step into just about any character.

Gorgeous and she totally fits the “Chanel” vibe. Nicole Kidman was soooo not “Chanel”.

Audrey is a striking woman but to get the full impact of her one needs to see her on film. Her face is so alive and expressive that you just kind of fall into her–wonderful to watch…

^Well said, Mike. I agree– from the few films I’ve watched her in (barring The Da Vinci Code– that movie was terrible), it’s clear to me that she’s a fantastic actress. I’ve seen Dirty Pretty Things, Amelie, and Happenstance. What do you recommend?

You must see “A Very Long Engagement” from 2004. Long harrowing film set during and after WWI. Many of her film are for France only and have no English dubbing or sub-titles.

Wowww I think this will be cool. When I was little my mum had this coffee table book of Coco Chanel’s life and some original sketches and stuff and I used to look at it all the time because the pictures were pretty hahah…so I would love to see this movie! Audrey will be good in the role I think although she’s certainly not my favourite French actress.

Beautiful.I loved Amelie.I agree with the above posters she’s fantasic on film.

It’s hard for me to imagine the lovely Amelie in such a difficult character as Coco Chanel’s. Thus, she is unpredictable , so maybe in this role she’ll surprise us. Let’s wait and by that time learn about the film at the Movie & DVD Reviews
