Forget Katie Couric – Ryan Seacrest is reportedly the heir to the Larry King throne.
“He’s the classic generalist,†King told the Times. “The only thing I don’t know, and I’ve gotten to know him pretty well, is how versed he is in politics, world affairs. Does he read the paper? Is he interested in Iraq? Because if he is, he’s going to be very good.â€
Another source familiar with Seacrest and his involvement on “American Idol†said that a drastic course change might be just what Seacrest needs. “He’s so serious about his career, but like anyone, he wants it to evolve. Hosting ‘Larry King’ would be perfect for him.”
Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse than an aging old man with mild dementia, it just did!

i can NEVER see Ryan Seacrest a.k.a Guy Smiley hosting a heavy-duty news show like Larry King Live for CNN. This guy will ALWAYS be the frost-tipping, corny-joke-telling, closetted red carpet/tv show “personality”. I can’t see him covering issues like the election in America or global warming. If he takes over that show, it’ll tun into a celebrity gossip show of some sort…and a lot of people will stop watching.

You know.. I would have to agree with Larry. I think that if Ryan did edge away from entertainment a little and get into some serious world issues and current affairs, he could do really well. He speaks well and he’s very natural on camera. I’m not his biggest fan but he is good at what he does. It’s definately time for him to at least ditch Idol though, that show isn’t helping his career anymore.
