2008 COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA

Los Angeles may have the Oscars, but Manhattan’s social event of the season is the annual Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, which draws glammed-up names.

Eva Longoria left her man at home Monday night as she attended the star-studded soirée.

The Desperate Housewives actress looked straight up editorial in a ruffled, full-skirted aubergine Marchesa gown.

Do we love it or do we love it?

I kind of like it even though it reminds me of a wedding gift or maybe a huge purple flower!

It takes a tiny woman with a huge personality to pull off this gown! She is perfection!

I usually hate everything she wears (and I her for that matter) but that dress is absolutely stunning and she looks gorgeous in it (hair, makeup, accessories… wow).

Gorgeous. You’d think all that pleating/ruffles would be overwhelming, but she wears well. Great color, Eva’s hair and makeup are perfect.

Gorgeous dress, but I’m not a fan of the makeup… too pale, it looks as if someone went at her with an eraser and just started rubbing out the color.

She looks stunning. If I were going to nitpick, I think she needs a stronger color lipstick, that’s all.
