Today the American Beverage Institute launched a national radio and print advertising campaign to educate the public about the proper application of ignition interlock devices.
A full-page ad running in USA Today explains that while IIDs are a good idea for someone like Lindsay Lohan, who has multiple DUI arrests, they shouldn’t be applied to all drivers. The text of the ad reads:
Ignition interlocks, or in-car breathalyzers, are a great tool for getting hard-core drunk drivers off our roads. However, activists now want to put one in every car in America. That means the end of moderate and responsible drinking prior to driving…No more champagne toasts at weddings, no more wine with dinner, no more beers at a ballgame.
Let’s stop drunk driving without eliminating our traditions.
Now the question is, will Lindsay sue over the use of her photograph? Or did the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department grant licensing rights?

Look at what its come to for our friend Lilo!!!! I say porn is the only way to go from here!!!
Let’s stop drunk driving without eliminating our traditions?? WTF?? such a bad statement! america’s traditions must encompass alcohol? what about: Let’s stop drunk driving without eliminating our FREEDOMS.
Haha…that’s so funny!
That is a horrible slogan. But it is insane to put it in every single car. Im a responsible driver, i dont even have a drink and drive normally, and to put one in my car, would be a HUGE waste of money. I think its a good idea to put them in repeat offenders. The money would be better put into education, or maybe more intense classes once they have gotten caught. But this slogan looks like its promoting drunk driving!
They should ad to that campaign every other celebutard nicol richie, michelle rodrigues, paris….
can you say no future??
good but only for repeat offenders, I say start with hollyweird.
Funny, though I see a lawsuit - -
porn? nah I think she should play a bad girl on a daytime soap opera.
SheRides, where in your pea-brain mind do you see a lawsuit?? It’s a mug shot. There is no licencing behind it. There is nothing she can sue for.
You think people don’t get in car accidents on the way home from weddings, ball games & dinner.??? Well I would say those are the most likely places! Don’t drink and drive period. My best friend was killed by a drunk driver. He was a business man I’m sure coming from a dinner meeting.
in regards to my above post - I don’t believe in the system I think it is ridicoulus and a waste of money. But that ad was just plain stupid.
I think it was really wrong of them to use Lindsay’s photo in this ad. I would be so pissed if I were Lindsay and even though its public knowledge that Lindsay has a bad drink driving record, I feel that this is really defamatory to her reputation as I’m sure she’s trying to forget about her past mistakes.
I think these interlock ideas are only a good idea to an extent. People who do drink responsibly shouldn’t be punished and stopped from having one glass of champagne. I personally don’t even bother drinking at all if I’m driving, it’s not worth the risk of either getting caught over or even worse- killing someone. If I know I’m going to drink I make sure someone else is driving or we are getting a cab.
That is rather strange, where I come from, you don’t get behind the wheel if you had wine to your dinner, or a champagne toast, you just don’t. And most people don’t have a problem with that. No one needs to drink, and if they do, they should not be driving a car.
Lindsay’s lawyers will find it nearly impossible to sue for this. A mug shot is a public document and the ad is a PSA not an advertisement for goods or services. The ‘ad’ is merely informative and since it is not attempting to sell anything, no one can profit from it. It is certainly rude, but perfectly legal.
Well, if the shoe fits! She’s over, and if she’s going to guest star on Ugly Betty, I will not be watching.
