Leona Lewis is all smiles on Tuesday as she does a sound check for her intimate concert tonight at the Australian Museum of Contemporary Art.
After totally killin’ it at the MTV Australia Awards over the weekend (where she performed her worldwide hit, Bleeding Love), the British diva-in-the-making is next scheduled to perform at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday concert in London. The concert will be Miss Lewis’ biggest show ever and would mark the end of her successful world tour to promote her debut album Spirit.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse and girl group Sugababes are also expected to perform at the event on June 27, but all eyes and ears will undoubtedly be tuned to Leona when she closes the show.
And so Leona’s meteoric rise since her Pop Idol victory continues.

As I have said before—she is the best new singer out there; fantastic voice and style. On a more unpleasant subject–I read that Whitney was awful at a recent jazz concert on the island of Tobago. I hope this was just a fluke and does not signal the end of a great singer.

As much as I like Leona, this girl is in serious need of a style team ASAP! Those outfits all look like cheap Forever 21 getups! She’ll never achieve divadom in those cheap rags! And I’m all about the au-natural look but she really needs some makeup instead of hiding behind those sunglasses!
There is no way she’ll be closing the Mandela concert, when people like Annie Lennox, U2, Paul McCartney etc are all likely to be on the bill.
