Leona Lewis offers photogs a gracious smile as she arrives in Sydney on Thursday ahead of the MTV Australian Awards.
After totally killin’ it on American Idol on Wednesday night, the British diva caught a first class flight to Aussieland where she will perform her hit song Bleeding Love during Saturday night’s star-studded award show.
Meanwhile, despite scoring an international #1 hit, Leona has reportedly been told to shape up if she wants lasting success Stateside. The chanteuse reportedly needs a “sexier†image so her team has hired Mariah Carey’s personal trainer.
She will soon head off to the Caribbean for some intensive training sessions with Patricia Gay, the woman who helped Mimi lose almost 30lbs.

Her hips are huge. I noticed how stout (sp.?) she was on American Idol. She doesn’t need to lose weight but some toning up could help. She is still new into the business. Give her two years. She will be skinny just like the rest of them.

I don’t see why she HAS to have a sexier image. Why not just be considered a more serious, singer/songwriter. It seems like lately every singer is trying to fit in this one particular mould and its just getting boring. I’d like to see her just stay the way she is and not go down Mariah’s path. Mariah has a lot more talent than Leona but she’s made herself look less talented by going too sexy and trying too hard to be ‘in’ with all the new producers and sounds. I think if Mariah had stuck with the big number one ballads that made her famous she would have done a lot better for herself and be even more famous than she is now.
Well said Stephi. Leona is a SINGER not a glamazon. She is the best new singer to come along in years. She is as good as Mariah and could be as good as Whitney down the road. Tired of “Bleeding Love”?? Try listening to her on “Take a Bow”–fantastic range and style. And–if you really want to see what can happen in her future, try and listen to the impromptu live recording of Leona singing “I will Always Love You” that is floating around on the net.(check Limewire) You will hear the Whitney in her at once.
On her Idol performance they needed to turn the volume up a little on her mic, the background music was too loud at first–She soared as soon as I increased the volume on my TV a little. They say Simon is her guru…..
She won’t succeed in the US because she is not pretty. NOT because she is not skinny.
