AND THE WINNER IS…

As expected, 17-year-old judges’ darling Jordin Sparks took home the top prize during last night’s ‘American Idol.’
When snoozer host Ryan Seacrest finally read the results — almost 10 minutes past the show’s allotted two-hour running time — both Jordin and Blake Lewis did their best to act surprised. Using her patented nervous/humbled look, the towering Jordin accepted a bearhug from Blake as she fumbled for words to express her joy. “I can’t thank you [enough] for keeping me around,” she said, her voice cracking. “Thank you so much for everything.” Very touching, indeed.
Admittedly, I couldn’t care less about ‘Idol’ since it seems each subsequent year is less and less talented. The only good thing that ever came out of that show is Kelly Clarkson. I personally couldn’t give two flying hoots about makeup queen Carrie Underwood, makeup queen Clay Aiken or any other wannabe from that show. ‘Idol’ is nothing more than an overhyped karaoke show. I’m the brilliant words of Paris Hilton, ‘I’m so over it.’
CLICK HERE to check out Jordin’s new single, ‘This is My Now’. It sounds like every other mid-tempo snoozer ‘Idol’ has churned out from previous winners. Consider it ‘A Moment Like This 6.0.’

“I’m the brilliant words of Paris Hilton…”
Huh? You’re the brilliant words of Paris Hilton?
Brilliant.

I am glad she won because Blake was annoying but I agree this show is long overdue to end. Did anyone see Kelly Clarkson’s performance? She looked hot and sang her ass off.

I still love American Idol, I can’t help it, but that was the worst Finale. Seriously the most boring 2 hours with a bunch of washed-up stars from past decades.

Jordin wins! It is a singing competition, and not a popularity or beat-boxing one. I’m so happy Jordin won!

I actually think the contestants get MORE talented every year. Taylor’s season SUCKED though. How many people from Kelly’s season could have a solo career besides her? Melinda is probably the best singer they’ve had on there period. I like Kelly Clarkson too, but she’s not any better than Carrie or Fantasia. I guess it depends on what kind of music you like, because Carrie is straight country and Fantasia is straight R&B, neither of them do watered down versions of their genres.
Also, if everyone is so annoyed by American Idol, why don’t you just not watch it? I can’t stand Dancing With The Stars, and it’s constantly in my face, but instead of complaining about it I just change the channel.

Arasto, I totally agree with you! The only real winner was Kelly Clarkson. The rest are crap. I stopped watching AI after the 3rd season. It just got so old and repetitive after a while. From the You Tub clips I’ve seen of Jordin, she doesn’t sound too good. Were the other contestants really that crap?? It reminds me of Canadian Idol winner Eva Avilla. She can’t sing for shit, yet she won the title. I’m so over it!

I don’t think I watched a full episode from this season but I figured I would watch the finale…so I had no idea Jordan was the expected winner. The local news station had a clip in about the middle of the show where they said “see what it was like growing up with the American Idol - meet Jordin’s family, next!” I was like hm, ok way to ruin the surprise. I also thought the show was boring and even the golden idols were crap, I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t even give these people a mic to talk into, you could barely hear what they said. I did like the performance by the African choir, I thought that was really good. I was also wondering why Carrie Underwood had a chance to perform one of her songs on the stage but she did a cover of I’ll stand by you, which made me feel like she was right back in the competition doing another karaoke song. I don’t know, what I saw of this season just seemed weird and I really had no interest in watching like I did the last 2 seasons.

On the news today they said they went over the 2 hour time slot in order to screw up TIVO fans who record and watch later, ff through the commercials. If you program in a show it only records the reported start time to the finish time, if they just happen to go over then the TIVO’ers lose out on the end.

And the winner is … me, because I didn’t watch.

i don’t think the problem is talent. most of them CAN sing, and very well. the problem is that they’re not releasing good music. fantasia and even latoya london are arguably better singers than kelly clarkson, but their voices and choice of style aren’t as marketable as kelly’s catchy pop rock stuff
