Just an update on today’s explosive exchange between Rosie O’Donnell and Elizabeth Hasselbeck on ‘The View.’
First, Rosie has blogged about the big scrape, titled “cease fire”:
a split screen
new heights
or lows
depending on who u ask
Later debriefed by TV’s Extra on the exchange, Elizabeth insists, “I am fine,” explaining, “We are used to debating things there. It’s there, it’s an issue, it’s dealt with and it’s over.” As for whether she and Rosie can move past this incident, she says, “I would hope that a disagreement… wouldn’t be the end of a relationship.” That said, she expects their next backstage crossing of paths to “be a little awkward. Whenever we have a heated debate, the next day is awkward.”
All’s well that ends well, I suppose. And, besides, ‘The View’ now has one very kick ass Emmy tape!

rosie does shoot off her mouth without checking her facts and Elisabeth isn’t strong enough to get her point across so they both end up looking like screeming meemeeies!!
3 more weeks of this!!!
Obviously one of the main reasons Rosie is not coming back for another season on The View is because of Elizabeth’s juvenile republican opinions and all the fighting they do. Rosie is used to having her own show where only her opinion is heard.
Their constant in fighting has really gotten boring anyway. NEXT!
It was a low of the director of the show to split screen their argument like that. It looked like it was making it even more dramatic than it actually was. EH is an idiot and she did act like a coward, she obviously thought Rosie was calling the troops terrorists but didn’t have the balls to say it.
Joyce made some really great points… WHY IS BUSH STILL IN OFFICE?!?!?!
Oh, and Ro and EH’s argument was entertaining.. waited for the round bell to DING DING DING!
I disagree, kevin f., Rosie’s old show was popular because she kept her own opinions in check. These shows are supposed to be entertainment, if you want to watch politics check your 24 hr. news channel not the local Hollywood celeb. And so what if she is described as a Big Fat Lesbian, isn’t she a Big Fat Lesbian? I can’t be offended if I am described as Fat Old Black man because that is what I am, maybe I could lose weight but I can’t do anything about the Old or Black. Funny that Elizabeth described it as a RELATIONSHIP and not a FRIENDSHIP.
If anyone called me a fat old black man, i’d be offended. it’s racist and it discounts anything you have to say. same for rosie. debate the issue at hand. this administration has ethical dilemmas and has messed up with either katrina or the blind support for wolfowitz, card, rove, rumsfeld, and gonzales. all who have been in the media for questionable practices and under scrutiny from congress.
Elizabeth is certainly entitled to her opinions. But she argues so poorly. She evades, accuses, guilts and even resorted to the immature comment about Trump. When it comes down to it: Elizabeth’s a jerk.
Jaded: how is it racist to call me a fat, old black man? I am overweight (under-tall), I am relatively old, I am black - that is honesty, not racist. I’m proud to be black why would anyone calling me black be racist? I’m assuming you’re a younger person than myself because there are a many worse names I could be called before I would start to be offended.
And, as Houstonian living in the midst of thousands of Katrina evacuees, that city was screwed up long before Katrina, the federal government, the state government and the city government knew it and did nothing about it. Then we have a natural disaster and suddenly President Bush is supposed to come down and magically fix it? What is a trip from the President (any president) going to do to a storm ravaged city except take police from needed areas and be a publicity opportunity.
I REALLLLY DO NOT LIKE ROSIE SHE IS OVERBEARING AND COMBATIVE AND IN THIS VIDEO SHE’S JUST TRYING TO COME ACROSS SEMI DECENT.
AND ROSIE YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUE WAYYY LEFT ,NOBODY EXCEPT THE MENTALLY ILL THINKS LIKE THIS ANYMORE DEMOCRATIC SHIT IDEAS AND SHOVE THEM!
Barks, that’s disencouraging to hear you say that. If i’m in a conversation say with 2 white colleagues and they discredit what i’m saying not by merit but by race then yes it’s subtle racism. I’m black and am old enough to have seen that racism exits in many forms. So if i understand you correctly. because the city was already messed up, it absolves the government from any real response. this is the problem with america. we have to hold our government accountable for their inactions no matter who/where the tragedy hits. The president trips would have showed he gave one iota to the 300+ people that lost their lives as he did the the VA tech shootings.
I live in the North where the racism is subtle and rampant.
I totally agree with rosie’s view this time. The ? was asked do you personally agree the the fox news pundits interpretation. why would she balk at s’thing so simple as a so-called friend.
anonymous, I think like rosie does and other able bodied people who are reasonable. I am not mentally ill and i should be speaking to you more on a personal basis for you to make such a diagnosis. (take the hint)
barks: I really don’t understand what you are trying to say. All I meant was that on the Rosie O’Donnell Show, she didn’t get that political for the first few years. But then after Columbine she got into it with Tom Selleck over gun control. But for the most part, no guests ever put her on the spot and the show represented her opinions only. I think she is leaving The View because she wants to be in control of whatever show she is on. She was testing the waters anyway when she took the job on The View. Now she wants to be in control again and will wind up with her own show again where she won’t have Elizabeth to try and contridict her all the time.
I think the way that she spoke to Elizabeth was totally uncalled for. Whether she agrees with her or not she should let Elizabeth say her opinion without personally attacking her the way she did. Elizabeth has only ever picked apart Rosie’s opinions never her personally. Rosie should definately apologize to Elizabeth, not for disagreeing with her opinion, but for treating her like someone whose opinion doesn’t matters. I think Rosie forgets sometimes that their are other opinions out there and they are all viable whether they agree with Rosie’s opinion or not.
Stephi:
you are right. Let’s face it; Rosie is a pig. And I don’t mean physically. I mean with her opinions. It’s as if noboy else’s thoughts ever get through. She never lets what anyone else says sway her feelings on anything.
Anonymous I guess this is where we differ. I don’t look at the federal government as a “save all.” They should do no more than regulate issues between the states, deliver the mail and protect us for foreign enemies, anything else they screw up. Also, I don’t think people label me a black man, God did that and I thank Him for it every day. I just think its pointless to get your back up when people point out the obvious.
Kevin F. - Rosie O went after Tom Selleck then was completely discredited as a hypocrite. She railed on him for belonging to the NRA when she hired body guards to protect her children who were both licensed to carry a concealed weapon AND lifetime members of the NRA. So its okay for her employees to have a gun to protect her children but not okay for average Joe Schmo to protect themselves.
Personally, I think Rosie is entertaining, my wife even got me watching The View before she started all these feuds (I think the first time I watched was when she called out Kelly Ripa). I just don’t think she researches her points as well as she should before just spouting off crap. But God Bless America where everyone (myself included) is free to be an idiot and let everyone else know it.
Jaded: I really enjoyed reading your comments…very well spoken.
Rosie’s going to be too busy all summer chasing all over Europe to see every single God damned concert Barbra Streisand gives!
Barks:
Someone heatidly calling out a black man as black is using that fact as a negative point, that’s why it’s racist.
i think something can only be offensive to you if you let it be. If I were arguing with a man, and he said something about me being just a woman, insinuating that I was less than him it wouldn’t offend me. I AM A WOMAN! And I don’t find anything inferior about being a woman. I think that a lot of people spend to much time worrying about how other people perceive them. Who cares if someone think I’m not their equal intellectually? I know who I am, that’s all that matters.
BTW Barks, I LOVE your comments. I’ve been sitting here reading them out loud to my husband and we love how you dispute things without being derogatory to everyone else. Very adult and intelligent.
Let me clear up a thing or two: if I was arguing with someone face to face and they brought up the fact I am black then I might see it as derogatory, however they might just be saying it to make a point because - as a black man - there are communities that I am unfamiliar with, as would anyone coming to my part of town who doesn’t stay here. If I got into an argument with someone and it was later described or reported and they said the fat old black man Mookie Barks said (blah blah blah) then that is to be expected, they are describing the scene. Just as Rosie fighting with Elizabeth is described as fat lesbian comedian (Rosie is overweight and prefers women right? that’s not a disparaging statement and she is still occaisionally funny) vs. naive republican mouthpiece airhead (how many times is Elizabeth described as young or only a reality show person who married an NFL quarterback and just spits out Fox News bites). Rosie was losing her argument, Elizabeth wasn’t sitting back and taking it anymore so she refused to engage.
I’m not a Republican and I’m not a Democrat, as far as I’m concered everyone in Washington is only out for themselves. They just define a few key differences to keep the masses at each others throats while they raid the cookie jar.
Now I’m off with the Mrs. to watch Lost and forget the names Rosie & Elizabeth!!!
P.S. Thank you hiedi & good night to all!
I fucking hate Rosie’s blog entries.
Why did god put iraq on top of our oil?
Barks, I just have to say you’re brilliant. I read your comments from the other post too, and you across as very intelligent and insightful.
*come across
those poems are very irritating
