Britney Spears was so moved by Idol Gives Back last night that she reportedly whipped out her Amex card (with dad/conservator’s approval, of course) and gave a $25 000 donation.
Says a source: “She did it all on her own. She watched the show and cried for like two hours over the children in Africa with malaria. She didn’t know much about the disease, so she Googled it. She was horrified to realize kids were dying from mosquito bites.”
Aww, you just gotta love our incredibly generous yet incredibly uninformed Britster, don’t you?

Yeah, maybe this is the beginning of her realizing that the world is bigger than the one she has lived in all these years filled such contrite problems as agressive paparazzi, when to get her next frappucino and whether she looks hot or not. What impresses me is not so much that she cried over those dying children or that she gave money but that she spent time and effort LEARNING MORE ABOUT the cause by RESEARCHING it online. Is this the same coochie-flashing Britney Spears we’ve grown to know and despise? Maybe she is beginning to wake up and grow up.

You guys, Britney has an allowance now. Remember when YOU were crazy (and teenaged or so) and had an allowance? She has to ask her daddy before she spends an excessive amount of money. I’m sure that the chick who gleefully and lackadaisically used to drop 45645656 thousand dollars or so at Kitson every other day has no qualms with donating more than the paltry 25K you’re all freakin’ out over, but she can’t.

I agree with most of these comments. Interesting how this source (Britney) happens to have been right there in the room (Britney) and then goes out to alert the media. Sort of takes the purpose out of doing a good deed. And yeah, big deal! $25,000 is like $25 to her. Not a big deal.
It’s amazing that people can even find nasty things to say about this! She donated a big sum of many, why compare it to what other celebs have donated? The point is is that she educated herself on an issue that moved her and did what she could to help. If only more people did that. And what’s the bet that this story is hardly reported. If it’s something positive about Brit people will either try to turn it into something negative or pretend that its not true or made up because heaven forbid she could actually do something right! Give her a break!
