Washington is still buzzing this morning about all the booing that went on when President George W. Bush walked onto the field at the new Nationals Park last night to throw out the first pitch.
Sorta humliating, but on the bright side, it almost makes attending a baseball game look semi bearable.

I agree with you guys. He has done some really terrible things as President (to say the least) but the office of President deserves more respect than that. There was a whole lot of people that went out and voted for him twice so they have no one to blame but themselves. Regardless of his politics I don’t think it is right to boo the President of the United States. I would rather them just be quiet and not cheer for him at all than to have them do that. For the record I can’t stand him and didn’t vote for him either time.
I’m surprised they had him toss that pitch. When Cheney did it two or three years ago (in the old stadium) he was booed big time, too. Organizers should have expected nothing less than a massive booing chorus which speaks for so many citizens of this country and for the world as well. It couldn’t have been loud enough for what Bush (and Cheney for that matter) deserves.

But the only solace is that they are booing the man, not the office. The distinction is a fine one, but nevertheless, valid. It will be the job of his successor to rebuild not only this country’s reputation in the world, but the office of the president in this country. Good luck with that.
