Barack Obama is on The View today.
The presidential hopeful, who taped the interview earlier this week, chatted about a slew of topics, from those controversial remarks delivered by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of 20 years, to his distant kinship to Brad Pitt.
Here are some highlights:
Obama on counting Brad Pitt as a distant cousin: “I guess we’re ninth cousins, something, removed – or something. I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool.”Obama on handling possible Swift-boat-like attacks from the right: “You know, I’m a pretty tough – I’m skinny but I’m tough. I think that the way to handle attacks, wherever they’re coming from – and, you know, there’ve been some tough punches thrown in this Democratic primary … – the way I like to handle attacks is to answer honestly, swiftly, forcefully and truthfully. I think the truth is a powerful weapon.”
Obama on Rev. Jeremiah Wright: “It was a snippet of a man. I think he’s saddened by what’s happened, and I told him I feel badly that he has been characterized just in this one way – and people haven’t seen this broader aspect of him.”

fabchick you’re the type of person that lets racism exist. If this was a white pastor and hilary claimed she didn’t know after 20 years nobody would believe a word. They would call her a racist. Obama is a liar. Not to mention totally unexperienced and arrogant. Just another pass he’s getting from the media and every supporter. If he gets a pass then hilary should be able to be friends with the KKK and nobody should care. As long as she never sat there and heard what they said then all is well, right? Being sarcastic.
Abraham Lincoln and General Washington were both inexperienced at being President. Bush had “experience” and let’s see where that got us…hmmm, recession, war, banks going broke, unemployment up…need I go on? I may disagree with what the pastor said but Barack didn’t say it. Doesn’t mean he agrees. My local priest says some lovely things about peace and kindness but some cruel and intolerant things about gays. It doesn’t mean I believe him or agree. I can’t think of anyone on this planet that I agree 100% of what comes out of their mouths.
fatchick—i DID watch the entire video. what i was saying (since comprehension is obviously not your strong point) is that i find it hard to believe that the video was the first time that his warped views ever came up. i’m sure that he has expressed himself many times like this in the 20years that barack attended his church. you repeat something enough and people WILL believe it. need a fantastic instance? how many times did our current fuck up of a president mention ‘weapons of mass destruction’ while justifying the war in iraq? do you know how many people STILL believe that iraq has them?

I am a young black female and I am not going to vote for him. Barack Obama is a snake in the grass. Unfortunately, the American people are not going to realize that until he’s in the White House. People are quick to criticize the other presidential candidates of running attack campaigns but he has engaged in the same tactics he condemns. And he is so slick and smooth with his words, people don’t easily pick up on it. Sadly, the media is too busy swooning over him to realize and report the truth. It’s sad to see that the Presidential Election is just another popularity contest populated with supporters, blustering reporters, and publicists who shape a public image of the candidate they want you to see.. Don’t forget, it was almost 8 years ago when people were taken in by George Bush’s aw-shucks country boy personality. Look where we ended up! Barack Obama are for the liberals what George Bush were for the Conservatives. Just wait and see.
