BRIT GOOSES RATINGS

britney-spears-ratings.jpg

Britney Spears’ guest spot as a receptionist smitten with Ted (Josh Radnor) on How I Met Your Mother boosted ratings for the show.

An average 10.6 million viewers tuned in, the CBS comedy’s biggest total in more than a year. The series also delivered its best numbers ever among young-adult viewers. Overall, the Britney effect was not as big as some CBS executives were hoping.

Meanwhile, FYB has learned that Brit’s guest-starring role had a lot less to do with her comeback and a lot more to do with the show’s money-hungry producers. How sinister! It appears the Britney coup was the sitcom’s last ditch effort to improve its chances for a fourth season and thus inaugurate them into the royalty-ridden world of syndication.

No word yet on whether their scheme worked.

The only reason why she boosted ratings, is that the American people just wanted to make sure that she is still bonkers.
A crazy person playing a crazy person, isnt a new role in her life.
    She sucks all around people.

I agree with the above post. I did not care to tune in simply because there is nothing funny watching a crazy person act crazy, and also because like “She Rides’ said she sucks all around people.

I actually watched it.. because I actually watch the show *gathered gasp* I know, but it’s pretty good. I like all the characters, and I think it’s really funny. The St.Patricks Day episode was probably my fave one.
It’s a good show, give it a chance, let yourself laugh a bit ;)

Aaaaaaand, Britney did a decent job. Her acting is still a bit rough, but NOTHING like Crossroads *all over shudder* Thank god… but you know what? The whole time I was watching her hair.. I will admit that. I just wish the girl would take out the extensions and just enjoy the short hair, I am sure it would look pretty good on her.

Aratso, don’t be so naive. There’s nothing sinister about what the producers did. Producers and networks have been doing it since the birth of sitcom over 50 years ago. What do you expect them to do, roll over and die because their ratings suck? No, they pull out all the stops and fight for their cushy jobs.

I watched it because I like Britney and wanted to see her. I thought she did great. Harley, you are such a negative bitch. Why be that way? And as for the producers using her for ratings, duh! I never watched this show before and probably will never watch it again.

any show that has a laugh track (to let you the audience know that their writers have written something oh so clever but think that the peons watching may not get their sophisticated jokes) is pathetic and of course they reach out to the biggest trainwreck to try to boost ratings.

No Dafka, I am not a lost human being. I wish Britney nothing but the best in her life. I don’t watch the show and I was not going to watch now just to see Britney. Maybe when she starts showing some improvement in some other areas in her life, that alone would be a valid sign of true success. Not some tv show.

I agree with you jack and jill, some people are just so negative for no good reason sometimes. I don’t really watch the show only if its on in the background while making dinner or something, but I didn’t mind it so much. I thought Britney was funny and she looked great. I don’t think there is anything sinister behind it at all. Britney got a bit of good publicity and the show got a few extra viewers…mission accomplished.
