After watching his mother suffer with ovarian cancer, Patrick Dempsey has decided to help other patients and their families struggling with the disease by announcing plans for the upcoming Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at the Central Maine Medical Center.
Says the 42-year-old Grey’s Anatomy hunk: “For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastating, and all the information out there can be overwhelming. So I talked to my sister about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power.”
The cost of the new cancer center? A cool $250 000.
Ok, I take it bag — perhaps McDreamy isn’t the McDouchbag that I initially thought he was.

$250k for a cancer center?
hardly. that wouldn’t pay the salary of one physician; let alone treatment costs for more than a couple of patients.
i suspect it’s his contribution; and major props to him.
^^^^ Yeah that doesn’t sounds right.
You’re right, that’s got to be his contribution…and keep in mind that it’s likely that that money will go further than you might think since it’s in rural Maine. He’s such a good home-boy, and yummy to boot!
I found this with a mere 60 seconds of googling, which you’d think Arasto could also do: “Patrick Dempsey has donated $250,000 of his own money to a hospital in his hometown. The cash will go toward a new cancer center at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.”
I still hate him. Sorry. No fake celebrity charity act is going to make me like this asshole.
^^ So you think his mother had fake ovarian cancer, and he’s donated $250,000 in Monopoly money?
After losing both parents to cancer, all I can say is God Bless Patrick Dempsey.
