TOM FORD’S LATEST CONQUEST: FATHERHOOD

Tom Ford….a father?
Turns out making overpriced clothes does not make the uber designer happy — he now wants to make a baby!
In the spring issue of Fantastic Man (The Gentleman’s Style Journal) on newsstands this week, the openly gay designer says that he has everything. Except one.
Says Tom:
“I’m going to have a kid in 2008. Richard (Buckley, Ford’s longtime partner) knows I’ve wanted this for a long time. He’s just resisted it. He would be a spectacular father. It’s going to give his life new meaning.“It will be biologically mine. I mean, I’m a lot younger. If things follow their natural order, [Richard will] probably leave the planet ahead of me, and I can’t not have had something I’ve wanted forever.
“I’ve always wanted kids. I don’t want to get to be 75-years-old and just have made a lot of dresses, done some houses.”
No word on whose oven the bun will be baked in.
And just start praying now that a Tom Ford children’s clothing is not around the corner!

He’s awesome. They will be great parents and give the kid so many advantages. I hope they have several. Good luck to them!

If he’s serious about having the kid in 2008, he’d better stop talking and start fertilizing.
BTW, whether it’s a gay or straight relationship: forcing a child on an unwilling partner is a recipe for disaster.

It seems, by the way that he’s speaking, that Richard needed a bit of persuasion on the idea. The way he says things make him sound a bit spoilt somehow? Maybe its just the way I’m reading it. A baby is a huge change in somebody’s life so I hope he’s making the right decision. He leads such a busy life that it might be hard for him to find the time to raise a baby. He seems pretty adamant on it though, so good luck to him. I hope he makes it work!
