In the crazy world of Hollywood romance, couples are known to use each other to boost their own egos, careers, and personal romantic endeavors. When Paris Hilton and Benji Madden stepped out of Fred Segal Monday afternoon, expressionless and overly nonchalant, it was apparent that there are alternative reasons for this public confirmation of their ‘relationship” has only been a few weeks since Sophie Monk’s rep confirmed that she and Benji were officially broken up and rumours swirled that it was Sophie’s idea to separate.
Could it be that a downtrodden Benji wanted to make a bold public statement in hopes that his ex-fiance would notice? Suspicions of the faux-relationship were further strengthened when photogs captured a head-over-heels Paris with sweetheart Simon Rex the day before she left for St. Louis with Benji.
Rex purchased an expensive and fashionable ring from high-end jewelry designers Hoorsenbuhs for Paris and she was overjoyed when cameras caught up with her just outside the low-profile jewelry store.
The ring was planted on her wedding ring finger and she giggled gleefully in between each puff of her cigarette. Witnesses said that Paris seemed smitten with Rex and unquestionably involved.
In light of these circumstances and the fact that Paris and Benji have known each other for some time through Nicole Richie, the rocker/socialite ‘couple’s’ recent outing seems contrived and way too obvious. Pictures show little to no chemistry between the two despite their desperate attempts to be noticed together in public.
It appears to be the perfect plan cooked up by an attention-starved fame-monger and a heart-broken rocker who hopes to win back his gorgeous ex-fiancee by making her jealous!!

Benji looks like he has cancer. Paris may be a skank but she is pretty. It was obvious they were never dating. This is her last way of staying in the spotlight.

Oh god she’s just looking for attention. Yeah she’s got a bit of a pancake ass doesn’t she, she always has. I really hope these two aren’t together as I really don’t mind the Madden boys…I think they seem pretty smart and actually are pretty decent musicians. Paris is neither of those things.
