Addressing talk that her forthcoming disc, ‘My December,’ has been less-than-warmly received by RCA Records overseer Clive Davis — to the point that a rumour circulated that the release has been snuffed all together — Kelly Clarkson says the sitch was “blown up” by the media.
“Every record I’ve come out with, people have not liked,” the original ‘American Idol’ tells the AP. “There’s always this battle, and it’s not a bad battle to have. You don’t want ‘yes’ people around you, and [Davis] and others at the label have been in the business longer than I have.”
Kelly tells MTV that at one point, RCA urged her to cover a Lindsay Lohan (!) track, and also offered “hand-me-downs” from other singers. Instead, she stuck to her own tracks: “I’ve never once compromised myself. [Because] that’s when you start to lose fans and credibility.”

And speaking of Idol, who will get sent home tonight?

I love Kelly’s new single. I don’t know why people are talking so much crap about it.
I don’t blame her- I wouldn’t sing anything Lohan did either. Lindsay’s “music career” is a joke.
Kelly’s new single is a total flop. It sucks and radio is not playing it. Whoever told her she could write songs was sadly mistaken.
She should have listened to Clive Davis, he knows how to sell records!
I think it is cool that she doesn’t want to be another tired package of someone she is not. I am so sick of people who just shut up and sing shit other people have already wrote for 20 other artists.
I’ve never watched AI for more than 2 minutes at a time, reminds me of the bar @ the Sheraton where they do karaoke. I do watch Regis & Kelly & The View though and they all think Blake will win.

so…im guess taking Xtina’s hand-me-downs, doesn’t count??……Miss Independent was supposed to be on Xtina’s Stripped Album, but she gave it to Kelly and reaped the writer’s royalty.

well… long post but here are my opinions.
1) that was the first album when she clearly wasn’t in position to reject everything.
2) she didn’t know xtina wrote the song, as well as xtina didn’t know her record label traded the song to kelly, and she got real mad when learning what happened, though latr she denied. kelly learned it when it made the final cut on her cd and as first single.
3) she is in position now to reject stuff. none of lindsay lohan’s songs would fit, i gues they wanted a better version of “confessions of a broken heart” but it just wouldn’t work with kelly since lohan’s cds are totally unknown where i live for example
4) so far as i know “never again” made the Billboard hot 100’s top twn, i wouldn’t consider it a flop. Give it time, like Breakaway. That had a slow start too as i remember, then lasted for half a year. i didn1t think SUBG will be a huge hit for her and lookie lookkie it’s her biggest.
5) every artist decides to try out the songwriter thing after their big break. i think it’s their nature, the sudden freedom they want to take advantage of and prove themselves for some reason, to the world and to themselves that they’re more than a package… i think My December is her prove-album thuse all the songwriting and rejecting the label stuff.
6) as for Clive Davis, he’s clearly a control freak. and he can ruin careers like it happened with the late Justin Guarini. it’s good not giving him much control on her work, coz he really uses it, he’s like Simon Fuller (her late manager). also he didn’t like Breakaway, the album either. Kelly should get out of her RCA contract, coz 1) she can get one with much better conditions 2) they’ll try to hold her back in case they’d lose control over her stuff and fame. the label is really control-based, they want everone to do thier taste and idea of music/image and if they don’t then they ruin them.
Anyways she could fight through a release, and then she could get it a month earlier. Which means Davis has little control over the buzz that’s surrounding her new album. And that’s the key to her success, it won’t flop. The whole Davis story will help it coz ppl will be even more curious of the album.
I am already sick to death of hearing her. She is TERRIBLE LIVE. she stank up the NASCAR race, the Country awards AND her morning shows were all the same. she sings flat and screeches what she can’t hit. BAD BAD BAD. She’ll be nobody in a year or two because her voice is showing how bad she is,

She is so phony. No way do I buy the whole “Kelly beats Clive Davis and gets her cd her way”. Its all spin to make her boring ass seem cool. Not buying it. And she sounds so full of herself. Hell, if she is a rocker chic, why was she on a country awards show last night? And have you seen her cd cover. OMG it looks nothing like her. Airbrushing must have cost ALOT of money…
