Jerry Seinfeld says he was just kidding when he called Sneaky Chef author Missy Chase Lapine a “wacko” for claiming his wife plagiarized her book.

As you may recall, Jerry was on The Late Show with David Letterman, when he said, “Wackos will wait in the woodwork to pop out at certain moments of your life to inject a little adrenaline into your life experience.”

But now, Mr. Seinfeld is singing a different tune….

In court papers asking a judge to toss out the suit against Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica, the funnyman says he was just doing his shtick last October when he trashed the “vegetable plagiarism” suit Lapine lobbed at his wife.

Keep on backpeddling, Jerry.

And P.S. We never believed for a second that your talentless, money-grubbing wife actually cooked for her own kids!

She prolly did “made things” but as far as cooking, I dunno know about that :|

I sided with the “wacko” lady on this one. For some reason I never liked his wife. I remember how she got married to a guy, went on a honeymoon, came back, divorced the guy and get married to Jerry, ALL in a month or something. And this stupid vegetable cook book? Come on… Like hide the vetegatbles under chocolate so the kids don’t know they are actually eating it??? Please, just make the kids eat the damn food. LOL

This man was never funny, it was the supporting characters.
Now Kelsey Grammer from Frasier is a really funny guy.

I agree with all the above. Jessica strikes me as a major biyatch. And what Jerry said on Lettermen was out of line.

I bought the book because a friend of mine already had it and was raving about it. I must say that her recipes are really easy to follow, they’re delicious and the kids LOVE it. So yes, I highly recommend the book. That being said, I don’t know what the other book is like. I’d like to buy it and compare the 2, but if she really did rip her off then will I end up having the same book with the same recipes? Maybe I’ll wait until it’s on sale or something…

If anyone’s at fault here, it’s Jessica’s publisher for not knowing that Missy Chase Lapine’s book was in the works at the same time.

That said, I think Jerry was an asshole for using a media forum like Letterman to take cheap shots at Missy. She was grumpy enough that her cookbook had been undeservedly usurped by a more famous woman’s efforts. Did Jerry really think it would be lots of fun to poke at Missy like a tiger in a cage? I think she’s right to slap him with that lawsuit, although I think Jerry’s wealth will allow him to ride this one out without too much worry on his part.

I never liked the concept of her book. Hiding veggies so the kids don’t know what they are eating?
Talk about setting your children up for failure in their eating habits when they are older.
And Oprah endorsed the idea too. Meh.
And yeah, AS IF she cooks for her own kids. Or for her husband. Or anyone! Damn, if I was that rich, I wouldn’t cook and the world would know about it lololol

I would’nt read anything endorsed by oprah and lets face does anybody these celebs write their own books because if u do i’ve got a bridge to sell u.

I’ve never been a fan of Jessica, but this has made me hate her even more. Prior to the whole Letterman fiasco I had done a little Amazon.com sleuthing on these books. Just about every review said Jessica’s recipes are inferior to Lapine’s recipes, but sadly the name recognition and that blasted Oprah have brought Seinfeld’s book to the forefront. Bah. Jerry was way out of line and needs to own up to that.

I hope wealth does not buy them the rights to screw someone over if they were involved in stealing someone’s ideas. In the end, the truth will come out. What Jerry said, in any event, was not called for, and was certainly ungentlemanly.

It is kind of suspicious that both Missy and Jessica’s books are quite similar. I bought Jessica’s book for my sister in law and she loves it. She’s been pureeing like crazy and hiding veges into nearly everything she cooks for the kids, nearly everything she cooks for my brother as well I think haha! I think its a great idea, whether its been done by someone else or not its a good idea.

it sounds dodgy, but i’m pretty sure you can’t copyright recipes or anything
