Congratulations to the beautiful Marion Cotillard who won the Academy Award as Best Actress for her portrayal of legendary chanteuse Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.
On the red carpet, the French actress donned what was arguably the most interesting gown of the night — a fish scale-inspired Jean Paul Gaultier gown.
Our thoughts? Fashion forward or fashion faux pas?

it’s…. interesting? Artsy? Not something I would wear, but hey… to each his own…. I don’t think she was tied down and forced to wear it…. fashion faux pas for me.

My daughter called it a ‘fish dress’. I agree… those things look like scales.
Congratulations to her on her award though

I gotta say…I LOVE this dress! It’s so different and elegant yet sexy at the same time. I think its looks perfect on Marion and she has acessoried accordingly as well. Gorgeous!! It’s so nice to see someone go for something a little different and still look good.

Simply gorgeous. If I just saw this dress hanging somewhere I would’ve normally passed it by yet it works.

the coolest, most detailed gown, i have seen in a long time. a real work of art!

The problem I had with the gown was the boobs. It makes it look like the cone boustier that Madonna used - the one’s that spin. That part of the gown is distracting. Other than that, I really like it.

A work of art, yes. But also reminicient of Darryl Hannah’s getup in “Splash”.

i agree with Shannon, i love it all but the boobs. however when she got up to get the award she just lookd fantastic from head to toe. i also loved her hair — simple and natural but every curl in place.
