PETA – aka the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — just came out with their 2008 Worst Dressed List, putting legendary soulstress Aretha Franklin at #1.

Say the animal rights militants: “When you waddled into the Grammys in yet another vulgar fur, you looked as if you were going to perform I Am the Walrus by The Beatles. You may be a queen, but you don’t know jack about compassion.”

Also making the dubious list are Marilyn Manson, Eva Longoria, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Aussie songbird Kylie Minogue.

    This gorgeous Sable is as real as Perez’s rabbit! she just has enough money for elegant fur and stays away from cheap rex rabbit.
    Please do your research on fur bloggers and stop making fools of your guillable selves. Fur is a renewable resource and is biodegradable.
    Why don’t you guys freak out about steak or sushi restaurants, leather seats in vehicles or leather purses and shoes.

    fur lover: it’s funny how sure you are that we don’t complain about leather too.

    why use fur and leather when there are great alternatives? it’s not like you’re some primitive man who needs fur to prevent dying from cold. yours is just selfishness.

    (by the way, fur is usually not biodegradable. can’t you guess why fur makers tell you otherwise?)

    Kylie wears fur? :S I’ve never pictured her as a big fur lover, haven’t seen her wearing any.

    And Aretha needs to get into shape, not to fit into nice clothes, but to be healthy.

    I think everyone who wants to wear fur should have to participate in the process and watch their coats being made, from the killing through the skinning.

    I think some of you militant fur-lovers might change your tune if you had to see watch animals being killed just to satisfy your (probably highly undeserved) vanity.

    There are terrific fur substitutes–there’s no real reason for real fur coats.

    A whole colony of animals died for that pelt. She comes from a different era though when that was thought of as glamorous. Some coats are really fabulous ya know. ANNND they do keep you superwarm in freezing temps. It’s survival of the fittest baby. I’d rather wear skin then be a skin.
