Jessica Alba pays homage to some of the most popular horror flicks in the March issue of Latina magazine.

Meanwhile, in the interview, the mum-to-be directly responds to the rumours that have resulted in her now-commonly used nickname, “Jessica ‘Don’t Call Me Latina’ Alba.”

Jessica on her reluctance to walk the red carpet at Latin events: “I’ll support those shows, but I can’t go on the press lines and have people make me feel bad about myself. Life is too short. I can’t change how I grew up, and I shouldn’t have to apologize for it. I know I feel close to the Latin community, because that’s what I grew up with.”

Jessica on claims that she’s proud to have cut loose from her Mexican roots: “I never said that. Cut loose from what? What the hell are they talking about? Why would I want to cut loose from the only family I know?”

Jessica n being accepted for who she is in Hollywood: “I was always trying to figure out: How the hell am I going to be mainstream? How are people going to accept me? When are the going to get a clue that I am American, that this is what America looks like–people like me who are mixed, have different blood, mixed with different ethnicities? When are the people who are hiring for these jobs and writing these screenplays going to realize that?”

Jessica on what she wants her baby to look like: “I’m excited for my baby to be brown. I just have to believe the dark gene is going to survive. Cash and I are like, please!”

    HAHAHA with each interview i dislike her more. She seems so up herself and should it matter what colour your baby is as long as its healthy? Stupid woman, and i swear she said something about her no wanted to be called a ‘latina’. Maybe i’m wrong.

    Yeah she is annoying as hell. Anonymous is right, she gets worse with each interview.
    And she wants her baby to be “brown”? What will she do if its not? And what if it doesn’t have 10 fingers and 10 toes?
    Its funny that she gets all these movie roles, she can’t carry a movie with herself as the lead, they always bomb. She has to be part of a big cast like Fantasic Four or Never Been Kissed LOL.

    Bitch should be AFRAID of being accepted for what she is in Hollywood. Because what she is is one dumb f*cking c*nt. Who can’t act for shit, by the way. Even in an ensemble cast, like Fantastic Four, she comes across as wooden and vapid.

    I liked her much better before, when all she did was look pretty and SEEM stupid. Too bad she had to open her cock-holster and remove all doubt.

    the whole article is very interesting…specially the ever evolving cliche of french being ohhh so french, that don’t comprehend at all any “american ways”…the drama.

    I’m totally latin, and I would never buy “Latin” magazine
    Fortunately i left my home-country when I was 25 years old, pretty set in my identity.
    The whole group identity (race or whatever) is so fucked up here in the USA…people get soooo upset
    the limits they even impose to others in what is supposed to be “your race”…when it is only perceived ideas.
    Latina magazine and all other magazines appealing to one given “group” is just silly in my opinion.

    Brown (As race) its a concept that has been developing here to pigeonhole all people that are not black or white. WTF?!
    dumb dumb dumb politically correct bull-crap. Like I’m gonna cease to exist if I’m not willing to be called brown, black or white. (BTW I’m more like green, olive green). For me people that use that bullshit of categories are just to “correct” to even understand that complexity rules the world…go to south america an call somebody brown…and see how people will treat you…you’ll be the idiot of the day. BUT again it is very different to gorw up being a majority (latinamerica) and being a minority (USA) Two whole different sets of mind and sense of pride.
    People are individuals, not fkn colors. Hopefully the whole “complexity” we latins bring will change the perception. But I’m afraid the DUMB media outlets will keep the majority DUMB for ever.

    DAMN “The Devil” You must have posted while I was. I couldn’t have said it better at all.. even in an “americanized” place like Puerto Rico, where I’m from, there is still far less emphasis on skin color than being proud of your nationality and treating others with respect. That is the true beauty of the latin community.. finding the beauty in eachother.

    ^Right on, girls. I envy that you’re set in your identity, TheDevil– I’m Dominican/Peruvian and moved to the states when I was 5 (21 now), while still being raised by a firmly Dominican mother. Lots of conflict and identity crises there (it’s hard to reconcile fully to either culture)– but one thing that irks me are the set expectations of what it means to be this or that, that skin color apparently determines your identity, and so on. How overly simplistic and inane that is, and ignorant of complexities. For me, “Latin” is a shared culture– similar traditions and values and backgrounds. It doesn’t fit in a perfect little box, and doesn’t have to.

    I have a client who is Mexican and whenever i go to her office she has Mexican soap opera’s on and i kid you not the vast majority of the cast looks Scandinavian. i know that the Latin culture has a lot of mixes but majority does NOT look like their from Sweden. it’s sad to watch that they want so badly to be western. I always wonder what Latin people think of that but i feel like if I ask it could offend that person.

    Totally agree. My ethnicity is quite diverse: French, Vietnamese,Irish, and Chinese. Let me tell you, growing up was very hard for me b/c people like to box you in.

    She’s the perfect example of a pretty face but an ugly personality. She just acts like a whingy, stuck up little bitch all the time. I don’t know whether she just comes across badly or if that is how she actually is but I really don’t like her. I think she looks really pretty on this cover and the photoshoot is pretty cool but that’s as far as it goes for me. Reading her snarky comments annoy me.

    i don’t idolise her personality or anything, but i can’t see anything particularly wrong with what she’s saying? she just sounds like a normal person to me. i don’t know where the miserable bitch reputation comes from either. aside from the select lot of pics posted on this site, i see she’s mostly smiling in her candid shots. while lately i agree she’s been smiling less, who knows what’s going on in her life. her boyfriend could be the one making her miserable, and being pregnant might be putting her in a tough position to leave.
