Filth and Wisdom director Madonna shows off her new cheeks during a press conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Germany on Tuesday during the 58th Berlinale International Film Festival.

Amid a packed audience filled with international reporters, Madge recalled her struggle to break into show business as she presented her first effort as a movie director.

“One of the themes that I explore in the film is struggle,” dished the Material Mom. “And if I look back to the beginning of my career I can recall those moments of struggle like it was yesterday.”

But enough about yesterday — what’s in store in the future for Madonna? “I look forward to making more music and making more films — I’m very excited about both.”

Ummm…..we think we are, too.

I agree Sina - she must have a good surgeon. She looks the best I have seen her and as natural as you can for having plastic surgery. Err, anyone know her doctor????? I could do with a bit of a Madge makeover myself!!!!

I never found her pretty but it’s true she’s is stunning here. I don’t really like the dress tough it make her look older.

Actually this is the firs time I’ve seen her look old. Like someone who could have a grandchild. There is a lot of worse pics of her out there, but now she looks as if her face really gave up and she had to get a new one.

Madonna rulez and I love her. I admit it, as a person who’s not really into pop music.

what about swept away…she isn’t the actress of the film…she s the director….and actually the press seems quite positive about her debut

Love the composition of the large picture, and the expression on her face is really nice. Great shot.

LOL @ Erica about Swept Away. I love her hair do, but my god, could she have afforded someone to cover up the roots?

Yes–her early early days were something. I vividly recall those nude photos of her with unibrow and very hairy armpits; she was still using her real name then.( I notice her daughter also has those eyebrows.)

I read somewhere that she really has gray roots, so it’s a calculated decision to keep them dark in contrast to the blond, feigning the carelessness of youth. Savvy, huh?

She has had a fantastic career and I’m sure it was hard for her to break through into the business. There wasn’t many really successful female performers at that time and she came in and absolutely owned it! It amazes me how she still continues to produce number one hits! I mean there are lots of performers from the 70s and 80s that are still around and still recording but we rarely ever hear their music. I’m not a fan of her in movies so much though, especially Cast Away.

i actually liked ’swept away’… some parts were pretty hard to watch because of the bad acting, but i liked the last half of the movie.
she is looking lovely. i wonder what exactly she did?
