Madonna is always getting flack for whatever she does, so it’s a pleasant surprise when she receives some praise for one of her many charitable acts.
The Material Mom’s efforts to rally support for Malawian orphans were praised today by one of the country’s top ministers.
She added that it would be wrong for the government to deny Madge’s adoption of almost two-year-old David Banda.
As you may recall, Madge hosted a New York charity event last week that raised millions of dollars for UNICEF and her own orphan project, Raising Malawi.
Says Information Minister Patricia Kaliati: “This country owes her so much. Very few famous people would take their time off to rally other celebrities to raise money for a poor country like Malawi, which very few people know about.”
Madonna is due to appear before a Malawi court in April for a final hearing on the adoption. After that? The release of her 11th studio album!
