Moment of the Day: A shocked Amy Winehouse accepts her Record of the Year award
Comeback crusaders Amy Winehouse and Kanye West, both recovering from personal tragedies in the past year, came out as the night’s top winners at the 50th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
While Wino took home five of the night’s top prizes — including Best New Artist, Best Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance — Kanye won his awards in the rap field.
Meanwhile, Alicia Keys was honoured for Best Female R&B Performance as counterpart Rihanna picked up the trophy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her infectious pop hit with Jay Z, Umbrella.

I’m not surprised about Amy…there was so much buzz about her winning and she did deserve it. Too bad she probably won’t have another hit record due to her lack of ability to merely perform that well anymore. She looks so shocked that she won though, I don’t know whether its that she’s shocked or that she’s drugged out of her mind that she doesn’t even realise. Hard to tell.

SHe is one of the very few talents ( maybe two other) in these awards of tacky weak and bad bad bad popcorn music.
Amy, get well. otherwise the music landscape will be a total DUMP.
Totally deserved! She should have won album of the year too! I mean Herbie Hancock? FTW? Amy caused a ripple effect in the music industry when her album came out; what did Herbie cause? Another snoozefest. Seriously, this decision making has been undermining the Grammy’s for years; out of touch, schmalzy grey old men who need a good dose of reality!
She was genuinely shocked by the award and I couldn’t have been happier for her. She deserved to win Album of the Year, too. Where the fuck did Herbie Hancock come from?!?!??! I’m sure his cd is great but that was so random. The Grammys kill me how they just throw people in categories that don’t even belong. Anyway, Amy looked completely sober last night and I hope she continues to get better.
^For REAL hotbitch. I was like, “Herbie Hancock? I thought he was dead!” Oops. But she looks MUCH better and it’s great to see that she has this support around her — hope she keeps up rehab and sobriety (but she needs to ditch that loser husband of hers).
