During a mid-show lag, performer extradonaire Beyonce gave the 50th annual Grammy Awards a much-needed shot of energy, albeit in an obviously lip-synced intro for Tina Turner.
Miss Turner then schooled the crowd with What’s Love Got To Do With It? and a stunning Better Be Good To Me.
Then it was time for the modern and the vintage sync up: Beyonce and Tina teared up Proud Mary, and just like that, the torch was passed.

take another look- no torch was passed. beyonce can’t even stand in the shadow of Ms. Tina Turner. Tina Turner didn’t just wake up one day and there she was Tina Turner. This is a woman who walked barefoot through the cotton fields of the deep south. Her singing, her performances are in a league of their own. beyonce has no idea who Tina Turner is.

i think tonites performances by beyonce was really terrible , first , lip sync , and then her stepping on tinas shoes was a real low for her tonite , she always want to steal the show , but not with TINA , well i think TINA TURNER , still has it and i think this will be the beggining of her comeback , and im glad that she will . enjoy it .

Obviously, the readers of this site (excluding myself) are not in B’s core audience. I happened to love the performance. Tina is darn near 70 years old and she did, indeed, pass the torch - just as Diana Ross and many other R&B greats have commended B on her stage presence and talent.

Stephi, Beyonce is famous for her hourglass figure, she has a fleshy body which is what men desire, it’s so crazy how some girls are scared of flesh, a stick thin body with no shape is not sexy at all. I think Beyonce looks great and Britney also, Beyonce def has the body for this, would you rather see anorexic Paris Hilton in shorts?

Idk; she doesn’t have a great body but at the same time I think it’s great she redefines what a women’s body should look like. Rihanna has a little bit of thick legs too, but almost no one mentions it because women like Beyoncé and JLo paved the way.
I agree with most of the comments here regarding Beyoncé but honestly, what other afro-american singer could have performed next to Tina Turner? Alicia Keys? She’s very talented and smart but she lacks the energy and charisma that Beyoncé can give on stage. Rihanna? She has charisma but not the live singing to back it up. Whitney Houston? That would have been a great come back performance but as far as I’ve heard her voice still sounds to insecure. She’s getting there…
