50TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS: PERFORMANCES

In what was without a doubt the best performance of the night, Kanye West lit up the 50th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night with a future-shock show that was part trademark showboating and part humble tribute to his mother.

Rocking a jacket with flashing LED lights and light-up shades, Kanye electrified the audience with a powerful performance of Stronger.

After that, it was time for Kanye to honour his late mother, Dr. Donda West, as only he can. With his voice cracking with emotion, he crooned the lines, “Last night I saw you in my dreams/ Now I can’t wait to go to sleep.”

Kanye had also shaved the word “mama” into the hair on the back of his head as an homage to the woman who is his inspiration.

Truly amazing!

best performance of the night fo sho!

  2. normal Says:

his attitude and arrogance just kill it for me….and i’d have to disagree with his being the best performance. amy winehouse rocked! i was so happy to see her in good form….

  3. Mandy Lane Says:

Honestly, I just don’t get his appeal. He can’t rap, can’t sing, can’t dance. Yes, he can pick a great sample like Daft Punk but even P Shitty did that. I’m very sorry about his mother but it was elective surgery and she choose to do it. It’s sad but it’s not a reason to love him or his derivative music. Amy Winehouse, now that’s another story. She’s a true talent and I hope she pulls her shit together and tours America because that’s one show I’ll pay money to go see. Her performance and acceptance speech for Record of the Year were the best moments of this year’s show. And who the fuck is Herbie Hancock?

  4. Shantelle Says:

I am watching this right now and watching the song he is singing for him mom and I literally have tears in my eyes. This is why I respect him as an artist. He talks shit, but honestly, who doesn’t? He’s down to earth and like everyone else. His mom would totally be proud of him! He did a good job, he should be proud of himself!

  5. kitkat Says:

    I LOVED THIS PERFORMANCE!!!!!!

  6. MikeC... Says:

He has GOT to be the biggest ass hole in the world…….arrogant dick. “Mandy Lane” said it just right in her post above–thanks Mandy. Amy was great….

  7. THE DEVIL Says:

The only real talent present in the “very bad music” awards!!

  8. My2cents Says:

I Love him and this performance was beautiful! Wherever his Mom is she should be proud.

  9. Leah Says:

I agree, his arrogance kills any talent he has. Amy sticks out as an individual, different and a real talent. Screwed up but sweet.

  10. Anonymous Says:

AMAZING!!!! BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT PERIOD!!!

  11. Dewey Says:

What the fuck do you know about rapping, singing, and dancing Mandy Lane. You don’t know who Herbie Hancock is? You musically uneducated dumb fuck!!!!

  12. The Beautiful One Says:

The absolute best performance of the night!! I could feel the emotion when he was performing Stronger and then I literally had tears in my eyes as he performed Dear Mama. I love his confidence — why should he believe there’s anyone better than him in the world? I should think most parents (mine included) teach their children that they’re special and that they’re 2nd to no one.

  13. Aysla Says:

Great performance! I liked that it was essentially a one-man show (no background dancers to distract attention), I thought it was very powerful and emotive :o).

  15. hotbitch Says:

Great performance. Like everyone said, his arrogance just takes away from all of his talent. I try to like him and then I can’t.

  16. Mandy Lane Says:

It was a rhetorical question, you dumbfuck hick motherfucker, Dewey Dipshit. I know much more than you ever will, you fucking asshole. Dewey Motherfucking Hick Fuckface. How’s that? Come back for more bitch.

  17. BeJeeBus Says:

I love him to death as an artist, I don’t care if he is arrogant. Truth is most people never make it in the industry unless they have the drive and confidence that Kanye has shown. People who don’t like him can do so, but you can’t deny that he has starpower and presence and he demands attention.

  18. BeJeeBus Says:

Best peformance of the night period!!!

  19. stop the hating Says:

love him to death and have the utmost repect for him and his mom.. RIP Donda West!!!!!!!

  20. stop the hating Says:

I agree with Dewey.. Mandy lane is the dumbest fuck out there! fuck crackhead Amy wino!

  21. stop the hating Says:

got your back Dewey.. fuck you you batshit face Mandy… who the fuck do you think you are on here calling names …. well back at you dumbass, get a life, nobodys gives a fuck whether you like kanye or not, he has enough folks loving him , go pay for Amy’s performance and il go see Kanye and hope us two never meet.. dumbass!

  22. BeJeeBus Says:

^CHILL THE FUCK DOWN! Why are you always so angry, you get on my fucking nerves. Seiously if I knew you I would slap the shit out of you for being such a loser. You might not agree with Mandy, but she didn’t bash YOU she commented on Kanye, which she is perfectly allowed without being ambushed by crazy bitches like yourself. Seriously you must be pretty stupid to expect that everyone shares your opinions!

  23. Miri Says:

Mandy Lane, go out and buy just one of Kanye’s albums and then tell me he can’t rap. He’s one of the few rappers that actually has SUBSTANCE in his raps and doesnt rap about cars, money, and hoes.

  24. savonnette Says:

“A powerful performance”… *AHEM* He totally ruined the original song.
