Nominee and award shoo-in Alicia Keys effortlessly modernizes old Hollywood glam at the 50th annual Grammy Awards at L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday.

Rocking a chic midnight blue Armani gown with high neck and long train, the R&B soulstress jazzed up her look with a sexy red croc clutch and a mohawk-inspired ‘do.

So, why has A.Key’s been rocking so much Armani as of late? It was just announced that the Italian designer has added his iconic creative style to her upcoming As I Am world tour by designing a custom wardrobe for his friend.

    Yes I think the dress is really beautiful but I don’t like the neckline…it looks like its strangling her. Her hair do and makeup isn’t doing anything for me either. The color is gorgeous though.

    She does look like she’s being choked, and that type of neckline should only be worn by women with sculpted shoulders and arms IMO….just as I said before- play up your “good” parts and flatter teh “problem” areas…….

    What is going on with these dresses? She is a beautiful girl but it does not even look like her. As for the dress? Thumbs down - the neckline is all wrong.

    Too severe looking! I agree about the neckline-not flattering for her at all. She needs wide set straps and it needs to be lower-cut to emphasize an hourglass shape for her. Her hair is also much better worn down.
    Interesting, but when I first started writing this comment, it said my name was “normal”–odd.

    This girl has serious talent AND she has a beautiful angelic face, the problem is she doesn’t know how to work it, her style is awkward and her hair is never right. But she can never look bad because she has a face to die for.

    As everyone else has noted, that fauxhawk hairdo is beyond ridiculous. Not loving the fuschia lipcolor, etiher.
    The gown is pretty–love the detailing at the waist, and the color is fantastic. Sadly, it’s all wrong for Alicia. That sort of neckline doesn’t work for someone with such broad shoulders.

    But she’s a great singer, and I can give her a pass on looking so mediocre. I don’t know why more attention isn’t paid to REAL artists like Alicia, and less paid to such freakin’ wannabees like Beyonce and Rihanna…
