Carrie Underwood finally manages not to look like icing on a wedding cake as the country bumpkin arrives to the 50th annual Grammy Awards at L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday.
The 24-year-old American Idol alum looked fresh and modern in a floral frock straight off the Zuhair Murad runway from New York Fashion Week.
Carrie was one of the few mainstream stars to go onstage to accept a Grammy during the pre-show ceremony. After winning Best Female Country Vocal Performance for Before He Cheats, she said, “You couldn’t keep me from actually getting this myself. It’s not the same” when somebody else accepts on your behalf. She went on to thank God, family, friends, AI creator Simon Fuller and “everyone at American Idol for bringing me to this point. I certainly wouldn’t be singing at all anywhere if it weren’t for that show.”

The floral print dress is by Zuhair Murad and on his web site - http://www.zuhairmurad.com.lb/zuhairmurad9.html.

This is actually my fave dress I’ve seen at the Grammys so far this year. I think she does look safe, but she looks gorgeous. The floral print is really in right now and she really makes it work. She’s such a pretty girl and I love ‘Before He Cheats’. I think she deserved to win.

That looks like a hostess gown a 75-year-old Floridian matron would wear for hosting her weekly mah-jong ladies club. I’m so not loving it.

I’ve got no affection for country music, but is it really that hilarious to call every single country singer a “country bumpkin” EVERY SINGLE TIME they’re mentioned?

Think she looks great!

Carrie’s hair here is channelling Sissy Spacek as LOretta Lynn in “Coal Miner’s Daughter”..

She looks like a trophy wife who lives in a suburban McMansion in Texas.

She looks like an asshole!!!

I think that dress only works in the summer time.

I thought it was a great Grammy year. I wish there had been more classic rock/modern R&B collaborations like this one:
This song didn’t make the Grammys, mostly because it was just released.
Squeeze Box
Dr BLT cover of The Who featuring C.A. (Not Christina Aguilera)

Always cute and sweet but also very boring and pageant like hair and make up.
