A growing and glowing Jessica Alba arrives at the 80th Academy Awards Scientific and Technical Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Looking simply ethereal in a tiered chiffon gown, the mum-to-be kept it loose and sexy as she honoured those who have helped many a star shine.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Latina magazine, the expectant actress expressed that she wants to speak only Spanish to her baby.

I know, what’s the problem with that, right?

First off, Ms. Alba (who has openly expressed that she hates being called Latina) can’t even speak Spanish herself, so it’s going to be a tad difficult to teach it to her child.

Secondly, Jess also expressed that she doesn’t want to teach the baby how to speak English (at all) for at least the first two years of its life.

So, let`s get this right: She plans on living in the United States but not teaching her child how to speak an ounce of English for the first few years of its life even though English is the only language she knows how to speak?

The poor little tyke doesn’t stand a chance.

    When I first saw the top picture I thought ‘oh this dress looks pretty’ and then I scrolled down and saw all the ridiculous ruffles. It looks awful and too pouffy. Not a good look…would have been soooo much prettier straight down. It just looks kind of silly. Jessica doesn’t look too hot herself here actually. Her whole look is just a little lacklustre.

    Jessica Alba is a proud Latina. I’m so sick of these racist attacks on her. She said that she is born from the American melting pot and that her family has long assimilated more and more into all-American culturally. This has happened to all cutures in the American melting pot. A lot of people immerse their child in a language other than English for the first 2-3 yers. These kids go to school and learn Englisg superfast and are already fluent in another language. Halle Berry said she’s raising her baby as a French speaker. No one got on her case. Jessica is proud of her unique ancestry and that of her husband to be Cash Warren. They will have a beautiful bilingual child of color, a beautiful wedding, a happy marriage, and I wish them all the best!

    PS. There are tutors that teach families. They’ll learn as baby learns. I’m sure the Alba-Warrens can afford the best Spanish tutors.

    she still doesn’t look preg…where about the same way through and i’ve been showing big time for the last month and i’m also small. I hope she’s eating. Anyways, her baby will be beautiful but i still wish she would’ve gotten married first.

    Pregnancy doesn’t agree with her, and it seems she is so trying to mend fences — so maybe she’ll add insult to injury by
    clarifying that the (hispanic, call me Latina) nanny will teach the baby Spanish since that’s who will be taking care of it (him) the first two years — or until she can find a boarding school that takes infants…

    I didn’t speak english until I was three years old and no one would ever know it– I don’t have an accent. I speak four languages FLUENTLY now.
    A LOT of children don’t speak english until they begin preschool.
    What have you got against education Arassto? Why are you baiting the xenophobes?

Obviously, J.A.’s not a proud Latina if she has publicly stated that she hates being called Latina. And exactly what racist attacks are you talking about? Nobody is calling her a stupid Latina bitch–they’re just calling her a stupid bitch.

    she never said she hates being called latina, it’s irresponsible to put those words in her mouth. she just said it’s about as sincere to call her latina as it is to call a white girl with swedish great-grandparents a scandinavian. i’m no alba fan, but she has a point. we let white people be individuals, but we label people of color and judge them if they don’t speak enough languages, know enough dances, etc. it’s so racist to say she is not “X” enough because she wasn’t raised to identify with X in the first place.
    plenty of current americans know shit about their own history so just give it a rest.
