Outside of Heath Ledger’s family home, police have been stationed to keep media at bay.
Heath’s family will reportedly hold a wake on Saturday at a colonial-style restaurant on Cottesloe Beach, a favourite Heath haunt south of Perth.
Jake Gyllenhaal is expected to arrive tomorrow while Michelle Williams and daughter Matilda landed yesterday.
Meanwhile, the premier of Western Australia, Alan Carpenter, appealed to journalists to respect the family’s privacy. “One of the great things that Heath Ledger was able to reflect upon was that when he came back to Western Australia it was a haven where he could just walk around like a normal citizen.”

I really really hope that this family’s privacy can be respected at the funeral and that Michelle and Matilda can get a little peace. The paparazzi can be pretty shocking in Australia but Perth is really the only major town on the west coast and most of the paps stick around the East coast like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc.

Heath will be greatly missed; peace, love and privacy to his family, especially little Matilda and Michelle.

I pray the the Ledger family and Heath’s friends will be allowed to grieve for Heath in peace. It’s a very stressful time for those closest to him, and media interference will do nothing but stress them further. Let them say goodbye to him without fear of being photographed doing it.
Leave Heath and his family alone. Please.
