Jamie Spears, accompanied by ex-wife Lynne, was granted temporary conservatorship over their daughter, Britney Spears, in an emergency court hearing today.
So, what is a conservatorship exactly? It’s created when it is deemed that a person cannot care for themselves or handle his or her own affairs.
That means her financial assets and other holdings will be managed by a conservator — the conservators are Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet.
The judge did not appoint a conservator to make medical decisions on behalf of Brit because the necessary paperwork was not filed.
As for the conservatorship that was filed — it is only temporary — until Monday.
Meanwhile, rumour has it that Brit’s parents are trying to file a restraining order against the evil Sam Lutfi in an attempt to regain their daughter.

As long as that piece of shit Sam is gone- I think Britney has a chance at getting better. Sam has been with her for the past year as he says, but has he done anything to help her? No, he helps her spend money!

Part of the ruling was that he has the right to make anyone living in her house vacate it. Hmmmm, do you think Sam was even living with her? What a weirdo that one is. Britney reminds me of one of those women who could easily be seduced into a cult. She seems to not be much of a leader but quite the follower. I think it was a good move on her Father’s part but she is going to be PISSED about this. Hopefully she can get some help and see it for the help it is later when she is feeling better.

I think this is good that her parents have been put in charge rather than one of her random ‘friends’. If Sam were put in change of her financial assets….I’m guessing she wouldn’t have any left by Monday. They need to get him out of her life ASAP. Some manager he is!
All of this is great news for Brit. Get all the bad crap out of her life and out of her system and get her some real help. If there’s an outside person handling her money, there is no way her parents can be accused of trying to steal from her.

I agree- the restraining order is a good idea. I read some of Sam’s comments about Brit’s parents over at Dlisted and geez– how fucking disrespectful! No matter how flawed my parents are, no matter how distant we might become or any animosity that takes place— I would NEVER want my friends to talk shit about them to my face. That is completely out of line.

Yes, I feel for the Dad too. Isn’t he a chef so he is hardly living off Brit’s money. While he looks haggard and very sad I think there is something about him I like - maybe he just looks normal! This has probably been in the planning for a long time. They have every right to do this for their daughter. Lets see how long it takes for Sam to sell his story now. Another thing I want to say is this - Brit’s family comes from a small town and their daughter made it big. Bigger than they oculd ever predict. How were they to know what would happen twenty years down the track We do the best we can for our kids and sometimes it doesnt work out the way we plan. Brit’s parents unity on this and her Dad taking control is very positive.

The reason it is so easy to empathize with Brit’s father is because, out of everyone in this sad circus, he’s the only one who you honestly NEVER SEE in front of the camera whoring out Britney. I didn’t even know what he looked like until this year when he went to the hospital to see her. He just seems to sad and sincere. I can’t judge him either way, but that girl needs her family. Here’s the thing, even if they ARE fucked up (and who doesn’t have dysfunctionality in their family?) the point is SHE MUST WORK THROUGH HER FAMILY ISSUES as a part of her healing too. As long as the pshyco Sam is out of the picture, her healing can begin.

Out of all the people surrounding Britney, Jamie (her dad) is the only one who has had a real-life job before, during and after her break into stardom. The only thing I’ve read he accepted from her was she paid off her parents’ house BUT he still lost the house to Lynn in the divorce settlement so that’s a moot point. I’m not saying he’s a saint but the fact he does not have to depend on Britney for financial support makes him seem much less parasitic than the other leeches she is either related to or just chooses to hang out with.
