Rosie O’Donnell was so touched by Monday night’s episode of Intervention – “So sad!” — featuring Tressa, a lesbian shot-putter who turned to cocaine and crystal meth, that the celebrity blogger says in a new post she’s giving Tressa a Rosie Family Cruise for four.

Ro invited the rebabilitating athlete and three other pals to come along on the next trip, leaving from New York in July.

All aboard the Rosie gravy boat!!!

I saw that episode. Tressa was such a sweet woman with a broken heart. I wish her all the luck and pray she will to stay clean and sober from drugs. I hope this opportunity gives her the chance to be with productive and loving gay people that will give her examples to live by. Not all gay men and woman are dancing in night clubs shirtless covered in body glitter.

Rosie gives a lot to charity. A hell of a lot more than most celebrities and she usually doesn’t advertise it. I love her!

Yeah maybe, but is it really charity when you only promote and give to only cause? A cause that is who you are? Its nice of her, but there are childern in need all across the globe!!!

Vino… I here ya, but, does it really matter what her charity is.. if someone can touch one life, change one person’s negative direction, isn’t that what it’s all about. So what if she donates time and money to Gay causes… someone has to… it’s not like the NAACP where you see a commercial for them all the time and it’s “OK”.. Gay cause commercials would probably not be widely accepted and only played on LOGO, WE, Oxygen and BRAVO

^^^ This is just one of the charities that Rosie has founded. She does not help just gay people. Actually it is her wife that started and runs the business for gay family vacations. Rosie also built an entire housing community in New Orleans after Katrina but you didn’t see her on the Today show like Brad Pitt. She also had play grounds built for the trailor parks that people were forced to stay in while waiting for their houses.

You know… I like Rosie. I’m not a huge fan or anything, but I respect her and what she does. She does her own thing, and you can either like it or not. She doesn’t care. I appreciate that she doesn’t make a big deal out of it when she does nice things for people, such as the things you guys have already mentioned. Interestingly enough, I liked her even more after she was on The View. Whether or not I agreed with her views, I liked her “devil may care” attitude. Maybe that’s because I’m such a “people pleaser”–I’m envious that she can do that. Anyway, I don’t think it matters what organization you give to, as long as you give. I give to scholarships at my alma mater–yes, that’s part of “who I am” but it doesn’t make it any less. Paul McCartney gives to PETA, and he is a vegetarian–does that make it less than charitable? No. If you have HIV and give to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS foundation, does that mean it’s not charity? As long as you give something (be it time or funds) with an open heart, then it is always charitable. Instead of dissing Rosie’s choice of charity, I think we should all check and make sure that we are giving what we can, too…okay, I’ll get off my soap box now. :)

I’ve known Tressa all of her life so I would just like to make sure that everyone knows that she grew up in a friendly little farming town (pop 1100) in northern Nebraska. She was raised with a strong religious background in a supportive family that loves her very much. We are all proud of her for her accomplishments then and are praying for her now. All we care about is that she stays clean and is the Tressa that we all love. I will grant you that her problems were of her own making as her recovery will have to be. She made some very bad decisions but what it gets down to is that drug and/or alcohol addictions are a nightmare for the people that love the addict and I can tell you that her family did not deserve to live that nightmare. However, we all have our trials in our lives and this has been theirs. Her family never gave up on her and are still supportive of her in her recovery. I don’t care why Rosie did this for Tressa I just hope it helps with her recovery because I really want her to make it this time.
