No, that’s not Britney Spears!
Blender admits it right up front — the shot is a composite to go with an article called “The Road to Ruin” (out February 12).
Writer Michael Joseph Gross spent a month interviewing sources and hanging with paparazzi to get an idea of the world according to the pop star. “Britney Spears has lost her kids, her fans, her underwear and her mind,” reads the cover line.
He adds that the Britney chase is “like a video game,” and the star “seems to be basking, and she seems to be trapped.”
Steve Lunt, the A&R executive who steered Britney for most of her career, is baffled by her now. “It’s very upsetting to see what’s going on in her life,” he says in the piece. “She was always driven and focused. The most quietly, deceptively ambitious person you could meet. But when you lose your focus, it’s very hard to refocus.”
“She got chewed up by this new celebrity culture and spat out, so it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for her,” says VH1 exec Michael Hirschorn.

I’m actually kind of excited about this issue…I would definitely read this.
The world wants a particular Britney, the cute blonde fit sweet Britney. But she wants the complete opposite of that. Unfortunately, the Britney that many fell in love with was just an image created for the sole purpose of making records and in turn money. Now that she doesn’t live up to that image, people just can’t accept it and it probably has a lot to do with her rebellion. It really is pretty sad when you think about it. But on the other hand why she just won’t get out of the limelight is a different story.
If they are talking about her downfall and having sympathy for her…then why the hell are they making fun of her on the cover? To sell magazines that’s why. Everyone likes to laugh at Britney Spears its pathetic. Can she actually sue for manipulating her image like this? Jessica Alba did didn’t she? This is a similar thing to those Rhianna photos in FHM where they airbrushed out her clothes. Surely it can’t be right.
Britney’s face looks beautiful here though…I miss her looking like this!
