In a crush of spectators, photographers and video cameras, the body of Heath Ledger was moved from the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City - in an outpouring of curiosity and grief.
Access Hollywood says the family was spotted arriving in Los Angeles this morning.
There are reports of a private service for Heath in LA this weekend.
The very missed actor will be buried in Perth, Australia.

I just don’t find this shocking, period. Heath was a celebrity and when they die even their coffin (I shouldn’t have used the word “wooden box”) will get photographed. You can hate it as much as you want but it’s news. Just like the coffins of dead soldiers that are shown on the news. Or people dying in Afrika. It’s all NEWS. I don’t see people going “I’ll never watch CNN again” or “I never read that news paper again”.

Further more, I didn’t remember such and outrage about Kate Moss and her snorting coke pictures. She has a family and a mother. Do you think she liked seeing her daughter being ridiculed? When my brother or sister would die and he or she was famous I would understand that people will take pictures of his/her coffin being moved. I wouldn’t like it but that’s just the way it is. That’s the curse of a celebrity. His family will probabaly hate it but I’m sure they know it’s part of the game. I do however hope the press will back off when the funeral takes place.

Actually, you can compare them. It’s called an analogy: where you compare common elements between things that are otherwise dissimilar. The reasons behind their news coverage differ, but Kate and Heath share the common element of both being celebrities and as a result have almost zero privacy when good or bad things happen to them. A valid analogy. If you think that prying into Kate’s drug scandal is acceptable, but snapping shots of the box that contains Heath’s coffin is outrageous, then it’s an opportunity to examine the reasoning behind that apparent discrepancy.
Also, I notice that you didn’t address OMG’s comment about soldiers’ coffins that are shown being transported on the news. Are you okay with that?

Myself? I think that this is an interesting shot. I like that it includes the photographers (can’t say for sure that all of them are paps). A real sign-of-the-times photo that documents our celebrity mania. It’d be a different story if the family were present, of course. For that reason, I agree with OMG that the press should back off for the funeral.

I don’t mean to belittle people’s feelings… but every time I come across a controversial post, I can expect that 90% of the posts are all “OMG you ass! Take it down! How dare you post this!”. The best way to avoid having these kinds of things posted is by *not commenting on them*. Less traffic and less comments = an uninterested public and no profit. Bloggers are going to continue to post things that make them money (i.e., hits)– it’s their job. If you don’t want something to make money (posts like these), then ignore it. You feed into the whole system with your clicks, by giving a false sense of demand.

I think its already been said above me…but nobody wants to see this crap. It’s his body in a packing crate and its just wrong to post pictures of it and encourage the paps to take even more like this. Heath’s family are mourning and the last thing they need are constant reminders of their greif splashed all over the news. There is a certain line when reporting on people that are dead and I beleive that taking, endorsing or encouraging photos like this one are crossing the line. This is a tragic thing that has happened- show some respect!
