David Beckham showed off his package in the new Armani underwear ad, but it’s his huge carbon footprint that’s got people talking.
According to Fox Sports, the L.A. Galaxy golden boy is responsible for 163 tons of carbon dioxide every year, compared to an average of 9.4 tons for the average Englishman.
According to th environmental group Carbon Trust, Becks’ wasteful ways may be the largest in human history.
In addition to the 15 cars he owns, David flew farther than a trip from the earth to the moon.
That works out to over 250 000 miles!!

ok, but what about john travolta and all of his airplanes or tom cruise with his planes and cars?
al gore is the hypocrite at least beckam is not out there preaching global warming.
What about Richard Branson who owns VIRGIN ATLANTIC and he’s building trains and rocket ships and crap like that? Doesn’t that add up to a large carbon footprint?
I can agree that David might need to make better EcoChoices - but the worst? highly doubtful.
Oh Please … All transport in the world including planes is only accountable for 2% of carbon dioxide.
Rearing livestock worldwide for Human consumption is accountable for 16% of carbon dioxide.
Anyone who eats meat [including me] is just as responsible as the person flying longhaul every other week.
ALL of the celebs are big fuel wasters- they just claim to be greem. A private plane wipes out any effort- such as driving a stupid Prius.
SOOO totally wrong. Whether Beckham does it, or whether Travolta does it! People need to wake up and realize that every little thing they do or don’t do adds up, and makes a DIFFERENCE. A family of 4 does not need 15 cars, and several jets. It’s really quite greedy and disgusting. People should seriously take into account that we are on the verge of losing more species than we ever have before… including polar bears, birds, bees (that provide us with 40% of the food we eat). Maybe your energies would be better spent defending the planet, than coming to David Beckham’s defense for being such a completely wasteful human being
it’s a hoax.
we should talk about reducing pollution because it’s the right thing to do, and inventing alternate fuel sources before india and china do so we don’t have to buy it from them…in the mean time, we should drill the hell out of anwr and whereever else there’s a faint rumor of oil.
Oh god he’s hot. I understand where the car thing is coming from…I mean who REALLY needs 15 cars? But it’s not his fault that he has to travel a lot for his career. I have to do a fair bit of travelling for mine but unfortunately there’s no better way to get to where you need to be than by plane. I personally hate to fly but it’s just the way that it is. Until there is a better, more environmentally friendly option then that’s the way people are going to travel.
adam, what’s a republican doing on this site? b/c i can’t imagine a democrat making such irresponsible comments
