WHOOPI SHARES HER SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

Not surprisingly, The View opened with a chat about the death of Heath Ledger this morning. The topic of discussion? Do you have to be angst-ridden to be a great artist?
For her part, show moderator Whoopi Goldberg said that she could relate to that idea: “Yes, I’m a very dark person. I have very dark moods.” Those dark places would sometimes help with acting, she said, but at one point early on in her career, “The place got so dark for me I thought maybe I should take myself.”
Said Joy Behar: “Kill yourself?”
“Yeah,” said Whoopi. But she said her daughter “kept the darkness from overwhelming” her.
The reason for it all? Fame. “It makes life hard. It’s hard to know who’s your friend, or what?”
As for being a celebrity, Whoopi says she thought it “was going to be light and fun,” but she soon “discovered there were people around me who wanted something. … Are you in my bed because you like me? Or because you want a car? A lot of people got cars.”

I love Woopi and I’m glad she’s still with us. When she speaks on that show, I listen to her…. she never minces words, nor does she say crap… she means what she says and she stands by it. Plus she can be funny as hell. Bless you Woopi

Pain is relative to your situation, experience and environment.. we can look from the outside and say how easy it must be to be famous and that’s celebrities trade off for fame.. well, frankly, I think it’s terrible to think we have the right to infringe on another human being’s privacy and safety because they hae a talent to entertain us. That’s their job, to entertain on stage, not in their everyday lives… Though, the curiosity of the human mind and vicariously living through celebrities for fun, interest or to help break the monotiny of the day will always be engrained in our culture and lives… catch 22 really.. WHOOPI IS THE SHIZZLE

I don’t care. I’m not happy about this. No one actually knows how he died and here they are going with the suicide slant because its more newsworthy. IF it was accidental then that story is still ‘good’ because at least they can warn people about the dangers of overdosing accidentally. Geez.
