New mom Christina Aguilera and hubby/babydaddy Jordan Bratman invited family and friends to their Beverly Hills home yesterday for a bris — the Jewish naming and circumcision ceremony — for their newborn son Max Liron.
Ouch.

I hear what you’re saying PSL and lennon, but it’s interesting how everyone’s okay with this operation, but not okay with female circ (male circ is analogous to Type 1 female circumcision — where the hood of the clitoris is cut off). There’s a fundamental disconnect on this issue in that most people in the west aren’t comfortable with *any* kind of female circ, but are okay with male circ. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t get up in someone’s grill about this, but I don’t think it should be standard operating (ha!) procedure.

But she’s not Jewish, so according to halacha neither is the baby,unless she under goes a long conversion process, outside of LA no one will consider that child Jewish, bris or no bris.

At least the amount of circumcisions in the U.S has dropped to like 50% rather than the 95% it was 10 years ago - people are eventually seeing sense.

i think circumcisions are unnecessary, though if one wants to be circumcised as an adult it’s not bothering me. but leave babies out of it.

There’s actually quite a movement towards not circumcising because it has been deemed unnecessary by the medical community. There are also a lot of men who have lost sexual enjoyment because they have been circ’d, the theory being that because the sensitive head of the penis is always exposed, the friction of sex and clothing and whatnot causes desensitization. Now they’re investing the time and money to stretch the skin to create a new foreskin. My son isn’t circ’d because it’s his penis, not mine, and he can make that decision for himself if and when he wants to.

Tabitha: who cares what other people will think about their baby?? Maybe there not going to raise their boy Jewish, maybe they had the bris ceromony so his Jewish mother wouldn’t stop nagging him and calling him 20 times a day.

Real men don’t piss and moan about being circ’ed. They try to get it wet any way they can, and enjoy the hell out of it when they do.

I’m circumcising my son (if I were to have one) because I’ve had an experience of seeing an uncircumcised penis when I was in college and it freaked me out so much I started laughing and left the guy looking like he was gonna cry. I would never want my child to go through that sort of rejection. So natural or not…my kid is having a normal dick lol.

people say it’s child mutilation because they want to take the focus off of real child mutilation, fgm. fgm is highly problematic for people to speak about because it’s largely a muslim issue. ironically, feminists and fake liberals refuse to discuss the blatant misogyny within islam for obvious reasons.
also, ant-circ ppl may hate jews, and might just be self conscious of their own nasty foreskin, or haven’t read a medical journal ever so they don’t know it nearly eliminates cervical cancer and cuts AIDS transmissions by 70%.

I can’t believe someone just compared male circumsicion to child mutilation…
