OWN will debut in 2009 in more than 70 million homes, on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel. The venture will also include the award-winning digital platform, Oprah.com.
Says Chairwoman Oprah in a press release: “Fifteen years ago, I wrote in my journal that one day I would create a television network, as I always felt my show was just the beginning of what the future could hold. For me, the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Network is the evolution of the work I’ve been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my show.â€

I remember when she used to be black….sigh….ah well good on her for having more power and money and hair than the queen of England. She’s a force to be reckoned with even if some of her priorities are a bit…vague. She is super ambitious and hard working, this is NO heiress airhead or talentless hick just shilling out whatever product she can get. Oprah’s a smart woman no doubt.

This is pretty cool! I love Oprah, I think she’s amazing and not really overrated at all. She seems like a genuinely nice person who everyone can relate to and she is very intelligent and the work she does for other people is great. It would be so good to enough money and resources to do nice things for other people like she does. Congratulations to her for fulfilling her dream to have a TV network!
Yeah– she was so rah rah about Oxygen a few years ago and how empowering that network would be…fast forward a couple of years and I dont know about you but I feel so empowered every time I watch “Girls Behaving Badly” and “Snapped”
