Despite the events of Breakdown 2008 last night, an LAPD officer tells The Insider that as of now they are not going to press any charges against Britney Spears, saying: “She is at the (hospital) for her own health and welfare.”
As you may recall, Spears’ assistant Alli Sims had to pry her pal out of the bathroom where she had barricaded herself with son Jayden James.
Meanwhile, Page Six reports that Brit was stripped by security of her clothing, to prevent her from potentially harming herself.
After she was examined by a psychiatrist (who was there to deem whether she was a harm to herself or others), Britney was sent to the psychiatric evaluation ward of the hospial for further observation.
And finally, Brit’s little brother Bryan is expected to show up in L.A. today.
A source tells People mag that the family is “terrified” by all that’s happened to Britney. “Everyone has been worried for some time. Her world has been crumbling around her and this is another call for help. Her parents are just devastated. Nobody knows if they can take much more, but they’re trying to be as strong as they can.”
As for what could have caused Brit’s breakdown? Sources say Britney had recently “freaked out†on ex-hubby Kevin Federline after hearing reports that he’d been flirting with her on-again, off-again BFF Paris Hilton.
Of course — it’s all Paris’ fault!!!

People don’t get arrested for that, they go to the ward. There have been cases where people have done a lot more worse then Britney and the court ordered them to go to the ward bacuase they weren’t sane. So get your facts stright people…

The LA police suspected that she was under the influence based on their interaction with her at the scene. Police are trained to detect drug use and they deal with it every day. If they had a reasonable belief that she was high, she probably was. She could also be arrested for kidnapping (doesn’t matter if it’s your kid) and refusal to obey a court order or contempt of court. This is really serious stuff she has gotten herself into.
I use to do a lot drugs myself and I see Britney’s behavior as true tell tale sign of abuse.

I don’t understand the fuss. This drama has been going on for over a year. By now, Britney - or any other innocent sufferer of mental illness - should have figured out there is something wrong with them.
Guess what hotstuff? Mental illness is treatable. If she doesn’t get treatment, and insists on placing herself (and others) at risk, it is neither acceptable nor forgivable. I cannot offer sympathy to someone who doesn’t want to do what is necessary to get what they want. Usually it is called laziness or irresponsibility. Call it what you will.

Of course she isn’t going to be arrested though, if she hasn’t got any drugs in her system than its her own mental state that is keeping her in hospital. It’s good to see her family supporting her. Hopefully this is the end of a really bad couple of years for Britney, and she is on the way to recovery.
Did anyone watch access hollywood…People who are Bipolar or Manic look like they are on drugs and aren’t. They were a bunch of experts, the hospital said THERE WAS NO DRUGS IN HER SYSTEM…there’s your proof. Now I can call all the people who said that this was simply drugs pure IDIOITS. ^^hotstuff, Bipolar Disorder and “manic depression” is the same thing. Manic depression is just the outdated term for the illness… it’s used today more as a descriptor highlighting the elevated mood state… when really, bipolar disorder features mania and depression, hence the newer term. :oP
